East Elementary Coaching Corner

A Place to Share Resources and Ideas

12/14 - 12/18

Also, as I finish up a couple of coaching cycles this week, I have blocked out some time to support 5th grade with iPads. Please let me know if there is any way that I can help or support you in these last weeks before break.

Coaching Goal

My role is focused on increasing student achievement by providing continuous, relevant, job-embedded professional development and support focused on the following areas:
  • How to use a variety of technology, including the iPad, to support teaching/learning
  • Ideas and strategies to support ELLs
  • Differentiating for higher learners/GT
  • Implementation of the 5 non-negotiables

Adobe Voice App Task Challenge

The prizes are piling up! No winners for Show Me or Thing Link, both of which are awesome, versatile apps. Learning to use them will open the door to a variety of instructional possibilities. Complete the challenges over break and claim the prize! Remember that I have 4 iPads that you are welcome to use for classroom activities.

This week I am highlighting Adobe Voice. This is a free app that allows students to narrate a story over a variety of digital images. They are designed to be 60-90 seconds in length. Students record their voice and then choose the image they want to display while their voice recording is played. Awesome for ALL kids with endless possibilities, but another way to work on oral language with ELL students.

Find a quick intro here and a second grade example and kindergarten example.

Here is the link to the challenge.

Google Classroom PART 2

For those of you who feel ready to tackle a bit more in Google Classroom! Here is Part 2 in a three part series.

This scholastic site has a variety of vocabulary games. These look really fun! Check them out, and try one next week!

Coaching Cycles to begin in January!

The two open coaching cycles have been filled! I am excited to get to know these teachers better and support them in meeting their goals for students!
