Remember What You Learned In Class?
By: Chelsey Spencer
Hints/Strategies
- One of the important tips is to get enough sleep. Sleep makes it easier to retrieve information!
- Try using mnemonic devices. We all remember that one from math class that helps us remember the order of operations-- Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally= Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction
- By creating a relationship between information already stored in your brain and new concepts, you are more likely to recall fresh learned information.
- Never cram information the night before a test or exam. Instead, you should- example: study 45 minutes a night to retain the material, leading up to exam/test day.
- Although you finished discussing a certain topic or lesson, overlearning helps improve your memory and reinforces that information in different situations. Example: In a different class, or outside of school.
