Friday Focus

Moreau Heights Elementary

April 6

Moreau Heights is a collaborative community focused on student growth with a commitment to excellence.

PBS lesson

The PBS lesson for the next two weeks will focus on Keeping Your Cool! This is the same slideshow as last week, since it provided lessons for both weeks in one.

Our Second Steps lessons this week will focus on the following:

Kindergarten will work on handling name calling.

1st grade will begin bullying lessons provided.

Grade 2 will begin bullying lessons provided.

Grade 3 will begin bullying lessons provided.

Grade 4 will review Second Steps lessons

Grade 5 will focus on dealing with peer pressure

Are you using Charger Cash to reinforce PBS expectations and Second Step skills?

- We want to use positive reinforcement to draw attention to what we want to see more of from our students.

- How do you make sure you are putting the focus where you want it?

- Are you remembering to use all your tools? Specific feedback? Charger Cash?

"You are a giant, yellow highlighter. Highlight behavior you want more of, and help children become aware of the many kind and helpful things they do each day."

Conscious Discipline Connection - Handling conflict between students

The videos below are to help with seeing what it would look like t help students develop the skills to use language like, "I don't like it when you . . . If you want/need . . . please . . . "

We have students ACROSS the board who lack the language skills to say what they need. When we teach them these skills we help them use appropriate words to problem solve INSTEAD of their actions or inappropriate/unkind words.

These are lifelong skills our students will need and WE need to help them learn them, just like we teach students to read and write.

MAP Testing Schedule

This schedule shows what grades and topics are tested each day AND how specials are adjusted.

1. Certified staff needs to complete their End of Year PGP Results and Summative, then submit it. When this is done I will set up a time to meet with you to go over your reflection and complete the process.

2. Please be sure that when you have any special events going on in your grade level, information about times and such are shared with our secretaries. They take many calls with questions that can be answered easily if we have the information.

3. Our next PBS Assembly is Friday, April 20th. We will have one more chance to recognize students with our 3 awards in May, as well as presenting any special grade level awards for growth, effort, etc.
