Field Day and Class Picnics
Hi RTS families! Mr. Schneider and Mr. Rowe are excited to have our field day this year on Tuesday, June 13th, with a rain date for Thursday, June 15th! This will be a day of fun games and activities for Kindergarten through fourth grade in the morning, and then a BBQ lunch and recreation time at Northwood Pool.
Grades three and four will ride a bus up to Northwood from RTS, departing at 8:15, and spend the whole day up there until being bussed back down for 2:30.
Kindergarten, first, and second grade will have activities here at RTS from 8:30 to 10:30, and then first and second grade will be bussed up to Northwood for the rest of the day.
Students should bring extra pairs of clothes that can get wet (water activities all day), towels, sunscreen, active footwear, etc. for a day of fun! Please make sure students apply plenty of sunscreen prior to coming to school.

REMINDERS:
STUDENTS LEAVING FROM FIELD TRIPS: If you would like to take your child home from a field trip, please send an email to rts.transportation@grcsu.orgl, 48 hours prior to the field trip for approval.
K-4 FIELD DAY will be held on June 13th. Students in grades 1-4 will go to Northwood Park for a picnic and swimming for the afternoon. (Rain date is June 15th).
8th Gr. CLASS DAY (8th grade student awards) is open to parents and grandparents on June 14th, beginning at 9:00 A.M. in the gym. Once 8th gr. students have graduated, they are done school.
MIDDLE SCHOOL PICNIC will follow the Class Day program. Students will go to Northwood Park for lunch, swimming, etc. Students should have sunscreen, towels, etc.
8th GR. GRADUATION will be held June 14th, 2023, beginning at 6:00 P.M. in the gym.

7th Grade Science
Students in 7th grade science have been working on chemical change investigations. They investigated color change, temperature change and production of a gas. Our most recent experiment was to support conservation of mass during a chemical reaction.

Volunteering and Chaperoning Requirements
In order to volunteer or chaperone a field trip in the Rutland Town School District you must complete the necessary background check. All volunteers may request reimbursement of the costs for the background check from your school office upon presentation of receipts and successful criminal background check. The required background checks that are included: fingerprint-supported background check and Agency of Human Services Adult and Child Abuse Registry. The reimbursement for the 2022-2023 school year is $11.25 background check at GRCSU Central Office, $25.00 fingerprinting fee at Rutland City Police Station. Fingerprints need to be redone every three (3) years. Upon successful completion of the background check, you will be notified by the office.
