Lindsey Weekly Update
March 12, 2021
DON'T FORGET DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME STARTS THIS WEEKEND.
Message from Mrs. Bellan
Today marked a historic day for interested staff to receive their second vaccine. We feel such gratitude that our students and staff have had such low infection rates. We know that is in large part to the commitment of our families to prioritize education.
This week our 4th and 5th graders practiced their state writing. The gains that students have made from December to now are outstanding. We will be finding ways to celebrate and recognize our students and staff for their efforts.
I recognize the amount of material we are sending home to help equip our families with the tools and resources our students will need to be successful. As always, we are grateful for the partnership and dedication to do whatever it takes!
Please note the Spring Testing Dates below. If you anticipate a conflict based on an absence or planned vacation, please let me know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. More details about testing for virtual students will be shared next week.
Warmly,
Meagan

Reading/Math Monthly Calendar
Who: All Students Grade K-5
What: Beginning in February each student will be given a calendar where they can record the number of minutes they are completing academic work at home. At the end of each month, students will total their accrued minutes and will complete a Google Form to earn prizes. This will be done in class. Prizes will be sponsored by PTO and will include a special key chain with "brag tags" that can be earned each month.
When: We will begin February 1st and students should begin logging time on the paper calendar they spend reading, practicing math facts, homework, or completing IXL activities.
Why: Students at Westwood will have a monthly goal of 500 minutes and Lindsey students will have a goal of 600 minutes. For our WW students, this equates to 20 minutes 5 days a week and for Lindsey students, we hope all students are reading a minimum of 20 minutes a day and spending at least 10 minutes on Mathematics.
How: In class on 2/26 and 3/1, students will complete a Google Form to document their minutes. We will pass out prizes to all students who met the established goal later next week! We appreciate your partnership in this endeavor as well as our participation with PTO and student council to make this exciting for our kids!
Don't forget to submit your reading minutes for some great incentives.
Students will be doing this in class. In case they are absent or didn't get to do it in class, here is a link. Please only complete once!

Please bookmark the form for easy reference. No paper notes will be accepted we are going all electronic. Thanks for your help in this process.
Given COVID-19, we are trying to make more of our everyday processes electronic and more efficient. These will replace the previous paper form we had.
Please note that there is an option for Lindsey students to ride a bus to Westwood so that parents can pick up all of their elementary-aged students at one location.
Should you have any questions about your child's bus route, please contact Cheryl Fowler at cheryl.fowler@westg.org or 440-729-0026.
LIndsey PTO was kind enough to purchase these items for use on the playground.
