Partnerships: Helping Students Draft Their Futures
Duncanville's first P-TECH is housed at the comprehensive high school and partners with Mountain View College's Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) program. This is our first year as a TEA-designated P-TECH campus, but our partnership with Mountain View is far from new. To learn how the steadfast growth of the Architectural Design program laid the groundwork for the P-TECH and to see highlights from year one, keep scrolling.
Two Graduations. Two Parties?
This year, 38 students in Duncanville's Architectural Design pathway earned one or more certificates from Mountain View College. For some, they'll be earning an industry-recognized, postsecondary certificate before being promoted to the 12th grade. Let's get a round of applause for the:
- 14 juniors and three seniors earning the Computer Aided Design Operator Certificate
- Four seniors earning the Architectural Drafting Certificate
- 17 seniors earning both the Architectural Drafting and Computer Aided Design Operator Certificates

SkillsUSA Winners
Nine Architectural Design students participated in State SkillsUSA contests in April. Of the eight students who entered projects for competition, six earned a blue ribbon (the highest recognition) and two earned a red ribbon (the second highest recognition). One student, Alejandro Covarrubias, competed in the Architectural Drafting competition and placed third out of 15 competitors. He was rewarded with a $1,500 scholarship to attend Texas State Technical College.

That Takes the Cake
Victoria continues to give back to the Architectural Design program by mentoring current students and presenting at P-TECH events. She also shared this picture of her graduation cake, designed with an architecture theme.
