Centennial Middle School is launching a campaign to help members of our school community with essential needs. Caring Cougars Campaign will be accepting donations starting this week to December 16, 2020. Donations will be distributed the week of December 14, 2020
Caring Cougars is a CMS campaign to collect gift cards and distribute them to other CMS families who are in need of support purchasing essential items and groceries. Some suggestions include purchasing gift cards from Winco, Grocery Outlet, Safeway, Fred Meyers, Walmart and Target. If you are able to donate to the Caring Cougar campaign, you can drop off a gift card or any monetary donations (we can purchase the gift card for you) to our main office Monday-Friday 9:00 am-3:30 pm.
Giving and caring for others is a Cougar trait and this opportunity will bring joy and love to many families in our community. Please consider donating to this campaign that will directly support many families in our very own Centennial Community.

Counseling Corner
Hello Parents/Guardians! This week of community lessons kicked off our December theme of “Kindness and Compassion”. For the first week of December community class focused on Self-Compassion and Self-Kindness.
Lesson one centered around expanding students’ understanding of what self-compassion is and the concept of self-compassion as treating yourself how you might treat a friend. Students were also able to practice a little self-compassion through a mindfulness activity.
Lesson two expanded on this idea of treating yourself like you would a friend. It also included a great three minute video that showed students what self-compassion can look like.
Speaking of self-compassion and self-kindness, this time of year can be challenging in many ways for many people and particularly so this year and now more than ever taking care of ourselves is so important. Here’s an article with some helpful suggestions for how we all can practice self-compassion: How to Practice Self-Compassion.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family is in need of additional resources during this time of year. And, as always, if you have any questions or concerns about your child, please reach out to their grade level counselor for support!
