Bobcat Bulletin
Week of January 11th
From the Desk of Mrs. Schmid
Happy Friday, Bobcat Families!
Staff have continuously expressed how wonderful it has been to see our Bobcats back this week! We have been busy planning and preparing for our weeks ahead and are counting the days down until we get to see some of our Bobcats for in-person learning!
We look forward to sharing details of our upcoming transition (below) and in days to come. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or our main office at 630-428-6800.
Have a great weekend!
Respectfully,
Keeley Schmid
Principal

Hybrid Planning and Preparation
- Students are required to wear a mask, and parents will be required to self-certify their child(ren) each day via ParentVUE (details to come).
- Prior to our transition, you will receive a hybrid schedule from your classroom teacher.
- Students will enter and exit their grade level door if they are a car rider/walker or Door 2 if they are a bus rider. Grade level door assignments will be shared in future communication. Pilot students' entrance/exits will remain the same.
- Students need to be in the door by 9:00am to begin our day. Students coming to school late will need to arrive at the main entrance, Door 1.
- We appreciate you scheduling appointments outside of school hours, but if appointments must be made during the school day, please refrain from scheduling during your child's in-person or remote core learning time.
Due to the upcoming transition to hybrid as well as upcoming winter benchmarking testing (details to come), all interventions (Reading, Math, Talent Development, EL/Bilingual) will follow the schedule below:
(Updated 1/11/20)
- Week of the 18th: All kindergarten interventions canceled AM and PM; All 1, 2, 5 AM interventions will be canceled-PM interventions will run (except 2nd grade TD).
- Week of the 25th and Week of February 1st: All interventions are canceled due to benchmark testing. Benchmarking data is used to create winter intervention groups.
- February 10th: Winter Intervention Groups begin.

January Bobcat Trait: Citizenship
In teaching citizenship this month, we are focusing on the following:
Respecting differences (equity)
Contributing to your community
Being responsible
Taking care of our school
We appreciate the support you are providing from home in reinforcing our monthly trait. Have you captured your child in action demonstrating citizenship? We would love to see it! Ideas may be photos of our Bobcats volunteering, picking up trash in the community, paying it forward, etc. Please note by adding photos to this folder, you are giving permission for others to view.

Sign Up: Virtual Game Night Tournament
Our first game tournament was such a blast, we’re doing it again! Join us on Friday January 22nd at 6:30pm for our second Brookdale eSports League Tournament. The tournament is open to all Brookdale families and can be played across multiple platforms for free! Sign up to join the tournament and play as a team virtually against other Brookdale families in Rocket League, a vehicular sports video game where players drive cars and try to push and bounce a giant ball into a large basketball hoop or soccer goal. To learn more about Rocket League, how the tournament will work, or how to download the game, explore these FAQs by Chairperson Matt Guerrero. New this time: Rocket League brought back split-screen functionality to the Nintendo Switch, so players CANS play split-screen with a household member!
