Starting a new school year...
I have a confession - I miss the excitement that comes from a fresh new school year, being directly connected to a school. Kids and teachers are fresh and full of the energy that new possibilities bring...parents have high hopes for the success and growth that they will see in their children. Sometimes, without the backpacks, new pencils and bright faces it can be easy to lose sight of how important each of us are in the lives of our Oakland County children (no matter what our role). Here is a little reminder.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMe8Nil2i20
Thinking ahead on our calendars....
Another friendly reminder to be thinking about your calendar in advance.
Registration processing takes time. Please be sure that you have sent the request for what you are planning to attend to me, along with the registration links, so that I can get the information to the appropriate PA.
Please also make sure that you are getting your printing requests to your PA two weeks prior to your event.
It's a Mystery!
If all goes as planned, our new LSI Secondary ELA person begins on August 28th! While HR continues to process the required paperwork - we will all await the ability to make a formal announcement. Who will it be? Hmmm.
School Improvement Opportunities
Hi there team! I thought I would share out some of the School Improvement Learning opportunities that are available for this year...
Guided School Improvement - Elementary
Guided School Improvement - Middle School
Educational Services Alignment Team
Educational Services has pulled a representative team of people to begin a process of aligning work across three departments (District and School Services, Student Services, and Special Populations). The initial phase of the work begins with discovering and clarifying the various work that we do specifically as it supports the CIP goals of the organization. We are a great organization that wants to get better through building coherence of interrelated systems in order to support the needs of our districts to increase opportunities for our students. Stacie Woodward, Shawna Veit and myself serve on behalf of our unit. We expect that everyone across Educational Services will be engaged in this conversation throughout the year. Stay tuned.
