Rain Reign
By Ann M. Martin, Presentation By: Josie
"This is how you tell a story: First you introduce the main character. I'm writing this story about me, so I am the main character."
Theme
Rose has to choose to trust her family's decisions and choices, even though they impact her in what might not be the best way.
In the story Rain Reign, Rose is forced to make an important decision when she finds out that Rain doesn't actually belong to her. Rose makes a decision that will forever impact those that she loves.
1st Person Point of View
I step toward him. "My father is gone," I say. (Rose's words)
1st person point of view is effective because we get to see all the thoughts and feelings of Rose. Such as when Rose is devastated when Rain gets lost in the storm. These thoughts and feelings help to build the plot, suspense, and action in the story.
Characterization
"My father said, 'Don't get me started on homonyms Rose." (These are other characters' words, specifically Rose's fathers. When he warns her not to get started on homonyms, this shows us the lack of patience people have for Rose.)
