Important Announcements

Buckingham "Every Step Matters" Walk - Rescheduled May 18

Keep your walking shoes ready - The Buckingham PTO "Every Step Matters" Walk was rescheduled to this Wednesday, May 18th, due to the rain this past Friday. We look forward to celebrating the great things Buckingham Students and Families have done this year with our culminating spring fundraiser where we help Make a Wish Come True! Go GAGA for Buckingham on May 18th!

Buckingham's New Sign Installed

In Celebration of our 60th Year, Buckingham Elementary recently contracted a redesign and installation for our new sign located in our front yard! The previous sign was in need of repair, faded and beginning to deteriorate. Through the help of Bob Shaw Signs, much of the material was recycled and implemented in the update helping with reducing cost. The sign now has a new coat of paint with some style-improvements in addition to the castle motif for our Mighty Knights! If you look closely, you will see larger turrets at the top, the stone castle, and our logo.

Special thanks to the Buckingham PTO for their support efforts to "SHOW" the community who we are!

Teacher Appreciation Day - Thank you Parents!

Thank you to all the Buckingham Parents for the delicious and thoughtful luncheon held for the Buckingham Staff on Teacher Appreciation Day! The Aloha theme was a creative way to enjoy the time - and the varied and creative foods were enjoyed by all! Thanks to all the volunteers for organizing and making the day special for the staff!

School Happenings

Baby Chicks Arrive in 3rd Grade!

As part of their Life-Cycles Unit, Buckingham 3rd Graders welcomed some beautiful baby chicks into our classrooms as part of our science unit! Students watched baby chicks in a temperature-controlled environment conducive to healthy hatchlings. Soon, eggs wobbled and beaks pecked through to add excitement to the room! Students learn the parts of an egg, what is needed for successful incubation, the stages of embryo development, and how to care for newly hatched chicks. It was a fun-filled week!

3rd Grade Wax Museum Research Project

The third graders at Buckingham have worked for weeks on identifying "True Heroes" with the opportunity to become someone in their Wax Museum Presentations! Connecting to several elements of the curriculum (Reading, Writing, Research, etc.), students chose an individual who has made an impact in our world in positive ways. As a result, the third grade wax museum characters came to life as they explained their hero-qualities. Congratulations 3rd Grade!

6th Grade Assessment Begins at Buckingham

As part of the District-Wide Assessment series, Buckingham 6th Grade students began working on the Sixth-Grade Assessment (SGA) in May! Students in each of our 4-classrooms will spend a week completing research on a self-determined focus question as they identify important topics that will support their theme as it is developed within their written report and technology presentation. The children will present their detailed presentation in front of their teacher and Mrs. Kraus, Buckingham's school librarian. It is an excellent opportunity for the students to showcase everything they have learned since they began in Kindergarten! Good luck 6th Graders!

Buckingham iRun4Life Color Run

After months of rigorous training during weekly iRun workouts, Buckingham students, volunteers, teachers, and parents celebrated with the inaugural Buckingham Color Run! On Wednesday, May 11th, students from Kindergarten thorugh 6th grades ran a course in the fields of Buckingham as volunteers and staff threw powder in a fun-filled activity! It was a wonderful success organized by coordinators, Yvette White and Katrina Brillman. Congratulations on another successful year. The community iRun4Life Kids Only 3K fun run will take place this Sunday at Central Park!

1st Graders are "Busy BEES" during our Beekeeper Visit!
