RISE with Mrs. Gilbert
Weekly RISE Check In!
RISE Families,
Beginning today, Monday, August 14, your FHS students will see me (Mrs. Gilbert) for their RISE class. I am the district's Gifted and Talented Specialist and I spend 25% of my time at FHS. I am excited to work with these fantastic young people! I will be checking in with them weekly on Summit Learning progress, behavior, attendance, and other goals. I am also a great resource for help with any papers they will work on- I have taught all levels of high school English, including both Advanced Placement Language and Literature. I am glad to help them work on anything they need- ACT prep, college goals, etc. Just let me know how I can help.
Here is the school wide RISE email for this week:
Students have been working in Summit, taking assessments during their PLT (personalized learning time). During class time, they have started working on their first projects in their classes. As the BLOD moves across their timeline, they will need to be completing checkpoints in their projects as well as setting goals, working to meet those goals in PLT, and passing assessments. It is important they use all of their time to work through their plan and meet their goals. Talk to your student about what they are doing to set goals and a good plan. We will meet and discuss their progress each week, but it is important for you to keep a check on them as well.

Summit Notes:
At FHS, students are learning through our personalized project based learning platform, to become a Self-directed Learner. There are five elements that through mentoring with your student and teacher reinforcing these elements, students habits will shift and they will become more successful learners.
Use this language with your students too, when discussing school work with them.
Devices:
At FHS this year, chromebooks are checked out to the students before 8:05 am, and the students keep that device with them all day, checking it back in at the end of 7th period. If your student needs to take a device home with them to work on homework, they will be allowed to do so after the $100 deposit has been paid at the school and contract completed. Student contracts should become available later this week.
I am so looking forward to a wonderful year helping your young people grow and become their absolute best!
Yours,
Mrs. Elly Gilbert
