Principal Post

Congratulations to our resident author, Mrs. Jennifer Eggert for her contribution to the book, Ideas to Inspire Your Classroom. Mrs. Eggert wrote chapter 4, "DuJardin School: Little Kids, Big Learning." In this chapter Jennifer discusses how students at DuJardin School have created meaningful portfolios as a way to measure growth and learning. Grade level examples are included along with staff, student and parent quotes that are shared throughout the chapter. Congratulations to Mrs. Eggert for this accomplishment and for shining a light on DuJardin School!

Severe Weather Preparedness Week is March 2nd through March 6th. There is a severe weather drill scheduled at DuJardin School on Tuesday, March 3rd at 10:00 am. We are mandated by the state to have at least one severe weather drill during the school year. The state recommends that this drill take place on the first Tuesday of March at 10:00 am. Schools across the state will be participating in this severe weather drill at that time.

Student grouping and placement for the 2020-2021 school year takes place in late May. In preparation for this important task a Student Placement Information form is available on this link. This request form is due back to Mr. Dwyer by Thursday, April 9th. Although a request form is not required, parent input about a child’s academic experiences can provide valuable insight to this process. Please remember that considerations for placing students in classes include but are not limited to class size, gender ratio, academic levels, student learning styles, specific student needs, diversity, and student peer relations. It is not recommended that a parent request a specific teacher due to the fact that requests are difficult to satisfy and teaching assignments can change from school year to school year. If you have questions about this form, please phone Mr. Mark Dwyer at 630-894-9200.

Students will not be in attendance on Friday, February 28th which is a Teacher Institute Day or Monday, March 2nd due to the Casimir Pulaski holiday.

The Illinois Readiness Assessment (IAR) testing is coming for grades 3-5 in both reading and math beginning April 13th. Staff is working very hard to prepare the students for these assessments. More information about the exams can be found at
