EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communication: May 7th 2023
SUPERINTENDENTS UPDATE
Spring Greetings,
April showers, bring May flowers! May will also bring many events and days of recognition for students and staff. May is known to be National Mental Health Month, National Pet Month, and National Physical Fitness Month. There is Mother’s Day and Memorial Day that will occur among many other days of celebration. Our school district will spend time the week of May 8th for Teacher Appreciation. We will be recognizing our teachers for their passion and expertise in the field of education. Here at the Egg Harbor Township School District we appreciate the efforts of our teachers as they embrace, engage, and educate our students. Teaching is a noble profession that involves care, compassion, and preparation for the world. Teachers work everyday on listening to students, meeting their needs, problem solving, organizational skills, and communication skills to successfully reach the student they are sharing their expertise with. It is a complex mix of skills and information that makes the whole teaching process worthwhile and the student’s learning experience relevant and real. Included in recognitions will be our paraprofessionals, school nurses, media specialists, and bus drivers.
This month also includes the Dice and Dine Event on May 4th, sponsored by the Community Partnership and the Education Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament on May 15th. There are many fine and performing arts events throughout this month and include art shows and musical performances. There is always a spring sport to attend on our fields at the middle and high schools. In between state testing and Advanced Placement testing, our schools will be hosting a preschool festival and civic and literacy fairs to provide relevant learning experiences. Please take the time to check our district website for scheduled events and fun opportunities!
We are committed to improving student achievement when we EMBRACE, ENGAGE, and EDUCATE the students of the Egg Harbor Township School District. #EHTPride

CLIMATE, CULTURE & #EHTPride
We are dedicated to learning together, growing together, and healing together within a positive school climate. Celebrations of recognition and reward for achievement, even the littlest steps, will occur in all of our schools as we value the importance of appreciation and respect. We have a lot of #EHTPride in taking care of our students and showcasing their achievements.
We are committed to setting a foundation of culture in our school that includes respect for diversity, inclusion and equity for ALL students and staff. To empower our school community to be positive, supportive, patient, and understanding. To unify all members around one central goal that includes nurturing a strong culture that allows students, teachers, staff, and community members to flourish as individuals and as a community.
With Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. Together, we can achieve more!

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
While our society is surely forever changed by the pandemic, we will make our current focus on restoring our community partnerships as well as expanding our partnerships throughout the township. Our community partners can have an important role in educating our students by sharing their experiences, responsibilities, and/or contributions to society, and by embracing our students and educational programs into their arena. We need each other to foster a better community. A community that is unified and committed to preparing students for the future.
