Message from Mr. Hanzeli
I am fortunate to have this platform to send along my personal wishes to every mother of our community a Happy Mother's Day! Here is to hoping this day is a super special and healthy day with your families. In this year of topsy-turvy who knows what will happen next, mother's have been a huge part of helping us all hold things together. Have a fantastic day in your name.
Grade 5 End of Year Special Events
Our grade 5 teachers and the Elger Bay PTA are working to try and help us have some extra celebration of our students as they promote to middle school. These students have been such amazing troopers through a year and a half of really complicated times. We want to be sure and celebrate them. Teachers are sending home information specific to these events, but I am wanting you to mark your calendars for these special end of year experiences.
June 8 (AA), June 11 (BB): Fifth Grade Day of Fun
June 9: Fifth Grade Drive Through Promotion Parade @ EBE, 1:30-2:30
June 9: Fifth Grade ZOOM Promotion, 6:00-7:00
Mini Field Day Plans Being Drafted
Mr. Blom and Mr. Crouch are working to plan special field day activities during our last week in school (likely June 7 - 11) during the students normal specialist times. When we know those dates for certain we will let you and the students know.
Optional Student Placement Forms
Reminder that you have the option to complete the parent placement form for next year, even though there are many variables that are still not finalized. I will hold these forms through the summer and we will do the very best we can as a team to build great classes for 2021-2022.
EBE Parent Placement Input Form
With great appreciation for each of you and your awesome children!

SCSD Friday Family Message, 5.7.21 (Repeat)
Good Afternoon SCSD Families,

The district is soliciting questions from the community to be asked at these community forums. Please submit questions that you would like the candidates to be asked HERE.
COVID Outbreaks
Snohomish County reported that there were 23 COVID outbreaks in Snohomish County schools, accounting for 88 cases. Snohomish County informed us that 8 of the cases have been at SCSD schools or teams in the past two weeks. Please help us to increase the safety of our students and staff by strictly adhering to screening protocols and other safety measures. If your student was a close contact, they would have been notified by your school nurse.
COVID Testing Update
We shared last week that we are now able to do COVID testing at each of our school buildings. To clarify: a negative COVID test does not enable a “close contact” to stop quarantining. A 14-day quarantine is required by the health department for individuals who are close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID, as close contacts may develop symptoms of COVID-19 for up to 14 days after the exposure. Testing may be done for confirmation, if a person becomes symptomatic, but this cannot eliminate the quarantine.
COVID Vaccines
COVID 19 Vaccines (Pfizer) are now authorized for any person age 16 and over. Camano Island Fire and Rescue will be holding a vaccine clinic at the Camano Center on Camano Island for people age 16 and up on Wednesday May 12th from 3:30 to 6:30. Parents may be vaccinated at the same time as their student(s).
At this point anyone over 16 and under 18 who is getting a vaccine will need a parent with them at the vaccination clinic to complete the process. The State is working on cleaning that approval process up but at this point that is all Camano Fire can do.
Please use the registration link below to set up your vaccination time/day:
