2019 National Curriculum Survey
The ACT National Curriculum Survey (NCS) is a one-of-a-kind nationwide survey of educational practices and college and career readiness expectations conducted by ACT every few years. ACT surveys thousands of K–12 teachers and college instructors in English/writing, mathematics, reading, and science. For the first time from 2016, a national cross-section of workforce supervisors and employees (for the purpose of determining which skills and knowledge in these subjects are currently being taught at each grade level and which skills and expertise are now considered essential for college and career readiness. Results from the assessments are used to validate ACT’s College and Career Readiness Standards, as well as its College and Career Readiness Benchmarks. (P1, chapter 1, 2016 NCS report).
- K12 National Curriculum Survey: Seeking feedback from individuals who are working full-time at the K12 building or district level.
Native Pathways: A College-Going Guidebook
The American Indian College Fund, with generous support from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, has published an invaluable tool for Native American high school students seeking higher education. Native Pathways: A College-Going Guidebook provides relatable college-going content for Native students that speaks to their culture, ways of knowing, and experiences as they consider attending college. The guide includes material related to how to get into college, choosing a school, paying for it, and what to expect the first year. There is a lack of relevant, culturally sustaining content tailored for Native students and the process of getting into college.
