Periodic Table of Elements Info.
Periods
Periods are the rows of the Periodic Table (<,>)
Groups
Groups are the columns of elements of the table and they help determine the number of valence electrons.(up and down)
Protons
A protons mass is 938.3 MeV. A proton is located in the nucleus. A protons charge is positive, (a way to remember is p for positive)
Neutrons, Electrons, Valence Electrons
Neutrons
A neutron has no charge, (n for no). A neutron is located in the nucleus, along with the proton. A neutron mass is 939.6 MeV.
Electrons
A electrons mass is 0.511 MeV. The electrons are located in the electron cloud. Electron are negatively charged.
Valence Electrons
Valence Electrons are located on the outer most orbital. Valence Electrons react to each other and form chemical bonds.
Calculating P,E,N
Find the Atomic Number and the number equals the protons and the electrons. To find the number of neutrons get the Atomic Weight minus the Atomic Number.
