We've been celebrating Hour of Code week all month long! Students have had hands-on coding skills in media to learn about sequencing, problem solving, and giving detailed directions. Through BeeBots, Ozobots, The Foos, OSMO Coding, and the Hour of Code website, our students are learning critical 21st century skills!

Digital Citizenship
Students today have access to so many digital devices, apps, games, websites & more! Not sure what apps and websites are age appropriate for your child? Not sure how to start a conversation on digital etiquette? Check out the great resources and app & website reviews at Common Sense Media!
Student Work
Throughout the fall, 5th grade students have studied digital citizenship in the media center. In teams, they picked a topic to learn about and then wrote a public service announcement or commercial to teach others about their topic. Using Google Docs and Flipgrid to communicate and provide feedback to one another, they kept enhancing their work. Finally, they filmed their commercials on our green screen wall! Check out their work below! NOTE: Students will need to sign in with their FCPS usernames and passwords to view the videos. Check out the videos at the media center website!
