RANDLE HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE
Dear Lions,
Happy Valentine's Day. As we complete the last week of the 4th six weeks, I want to remind everyone that tardies will not start over until February 21st. As a friendly reminder every 6 weeks tardies start over for students. Below is our tardy policy. When students are tardy, they are afforded an additional 3 minutes to get to class.
Randle Tardy Policy:
0-4 No Penalty Warning
5-8 Saturday Detention (Failure to attend will result in ISS). Receiving ISS will negatively affect spring exemptions.
9 - 11 ISS 3 Days (Loss of exemptions) - Administrator parent phone conference
12 or more tardies may result in out of school suspension.
It is essential that students arrive to class on time and prepared to work from bell to bell. There are a few items that all students should carry with at all times.
- Randle HS Planner: When leaving the classroom for any reason, students must carry their planner. The planner is used to help students stay organized and is an easy way for parents to stay in touch with what students are doing in their classes.
- Student ID's: We have provided every student two ID's and a lanyard. Each student has a SMART TAG ID which allows them to ride the bus and a school picture ID. Every student must have their ID and their planner when wanting to leave the classroom.
Earlier this 6 weeks, our students completed the MAP Test Middle of the Year progress assessment. As a campus we saw significant growth in all tested areas. The data also provided information related to how much time each student spent on the assessment and more specifically how often each student guessed on questions.
You may be asking, "Why is this important?" We are getting ready to take our benchmark exams in English I, English II, Algebra 1, Biology, and US History. All of this data will be used to identify which students will be invited to participate in our STAAR BLITZ program and mandatory afterschool/Saturday Tutorials.
I truly believe that all of our students are capable of demonstrating proficiency on the STAAR End of Course Assessment. I also believe that some of our students would benefit from extra tutoring and support. This is why the upcoming benchmark assessments are so important. I will be creating a video to provide more information on the importance of our upcoming benchmarks.
