Mrs. Campbell's Notes
Happy New Year! I was excited to see students and staff back in the halls at KMHS this week. A break is much appreciated, but returning to normalcy also has value. As we kick off the new year, we have exciting updates and important information to share with you in this month's newsletter. I sent a New Year's Smore before the beginning of the second semester, but I have included the same links with this one as well. Our schedule looks a little different this semester, but we are excited for the changes and look forward to providing opportunities to address individual student needs. After next week, talk with your students about the W.I.N. time built in the new schedule and the process of signing up for sessions.
I'm looking forward to the accomplishments and growth our students will have during this semester of the 23-24 school year. I love watching students work hard to reach their full potential with academics, activities, and sports. I wish all our families and community members a safe and healthy 2024 as we all work together to help everyone strive to reach their best potential!
Shout Outs
Shout Out to FCCLA for their efforts and our community members who purchased raffle tickets. The girls were able to buy Angel Tree gifts for 18 kids in the Kingman Community with raised funds.
Mrs. Clover would like to give a Shout Out to all the KHS STUCO members and all those who performed at the Talent Show before break. The Talent Show was a huge success!
Shout Out to Tristen Davidson for being selected to the Kansas Shrine Bowl! We can't wait to cheer him on the field again! Go West!
Shout Out to Doug Bradshaw and Mike Albright for their hard work over winter break. They put up new room number signs around the school and installed two sets of sinks in our coffee shop. Their hard work is much appreciated and our students are excited to open up shop earlier than expected.

New Year's Resolution for Our Brains
Is Working Out and Getting in Shape Your New Year's Resolution? Don’t Forget Your Brain and Your Kids’ Brains Too!
No one goes to the gym just to look at the equipment, hoping to get bigger and stronger. Teams don’t just talk about practice, hoping to get better to win games and championships. Think of reading in the same way–reading ability is like a muscle. If you don’t exercise it often, you will not maintain the same level of reading ability as you get older. Think: Use it or lose it.
How can we work out our brains? Plain and simple: reading. And a critical component in reading: vocabulary. It is essential for comprehension. The more words you know, the better you comprehend; the more you read, the more words you learn and store. The more words you know, the better you comprehend; the more you read, the more words you learn and store…and round and round it goes, working out and exercising your reading ability making it better and stronger. For your kids, school work gets easier when their reading abilities get bigger, better and stronger.
So swap out some gaming time, phone time, and TV time to read, play word games, do crossword puzzles, etc. Commit to using it, not losing it…for your kids AND you!
Baby Fever for KMHS Staff Members
It's Baby Fever for some of our KMHS Staff members. Mrs. and Mr. Kraxner welcomed their new baby girl in November, we have three babies due in February, and one due in May. Our school Nurse Mrs. Delgado, Mr. Hageman's wife, and Mr. Kehbiel's wife are all due in February. Mrs. Hayes is due in May. We are excited for the additions of our new Eagle Family members and wish all the mom's and dad's the best of luck!
