ELA- Mr. Jones
This week we focused on tightening up our classroom expectations and consequences. Students decided what consequences should be used to address some behaviors. You may view the results of their decisions here. With Refugee we are headed for the final stretch. Everyone should be finished with the novel by next Friday, September 13. We have continued focusing on character development and how point-of-view impacts the way readers view characters. Students should also be reading independent books as they need to complete two more books (plus Refugee) by the end of the month. Finally, some of you have received invites to join Google Classroom as guardians so that you would have some access to assignments that are due and/or late. You and students can view this week’s mini-lessons here.
Science- Mrs. Creath
This week students measured the size of our solar system to scale using toilet paper (See pictures below)! The solar system ended up being 200 squares long! The students then made mini-versions of the solar system using sentence strips. We will start our solar system research project on Friday. Students will be making a poster (you can view the requirements and rubric by going here: bit.ly/2NTjUgW).
Social Studies- Mrs. Pettid
This week students have been working on the Five Themes of Geography and Map Skills. We took a short break on Wednesday to address the school’s Intruder Drill.
Next week, we will begin looking at River Valley Civilizations.
