Whiteley Wildcat Update
November 8, 2019
It has been exciting to visit classrooms during this week! I have enjoyed being able to watch students work though problem-solving in math and really looking at different strategies to solve problems. First grade has been teaching me a variety of facts about bats, hoping that they will become one of my favorite pets. It is exciting to pop into our primary classrooms and see our teachers dig into some of our new literacy program of FPC classroom.
PTA
Tomorrow is our Whiteley Dash! We are looking forward to getting our heart pumping on a brisk November morning. Please remember to stop by the cafeteria after the race to enjoy some post-race treats and visit our sponsor tables. We will also be collecting non-perishable food items for our Helping Hands group as they put together food baskets this coming week. I am looking forward to connecting with families as they cross the finish line.
Our PTA is also busy doing some other amazing things! They will be having a Dine and Share event this coming week at MOD Pizza. There is a flyer attached to use when visiting MOD pizza on the 13th. The Helping Hands Club will be meeting on Thursday, November 14 to pack Thanksgiving baskets for the Palatine food pantry. A box is outside the main office for your donations. They are looking for donations to help us fill the baskets. If you are able, please consider donating any of the following items:
Canned Vegetables, Chicken Broth, Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, Cranberry Sauce, Canned Fruit, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Boxed Cake Mix, Brownie Mix, Evaporated Milk, Instant Potatoes, Jell-O, Pie Crust Mix, Pie Filling, Stuffing Mix, Canned Sweet Potatoes, Turkey Gravy, Cereal. Gift cards to Jewel are also accepted in any denomination for families to purchase a turkey.
Thank you for your generosity!
Student Drop-Off Reminders
We just wanted to give our parents a gentle reminder on the student drop-off procedures. This will allow our traffic to flow smoothly and allow for the safety of all.
-Pull all the way forward as far as possible
-Students should exit once the car has stopped anywhere along the yellow line (do not wait to get closer to the door, and do not exit on the grass near the parking lot entrance)
-Be ready to go once car has stopped- coats on, bags ready, quick good bye, etc.
-Once child has left the vehicle and line is moving, pull carefully away from the curb (do not watch them walk all the way into the building)
We appreciate all of your support.
Recess Reminder
Our students enjoy daily recess as long as the weather permits. Since we are now in the colder months students will need to dress appropriately for the temperatures. Please make sure your child has their winter coats and apparel so they can enjoy their time outside.
