IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MRS. GALLO, Librarian & Aftercare Director

1. There will be no aftercare on the last day of school, May 21st.

2. To all students leaving SMM, your SMM google account will be closed after July 15th and you will no longer be able to access the account. If there are any documents you want in your google drive, you will have to open a personal google account and transfer the information over. If you need any help, please contact Ms. Gallo at sgallo@saintmm.org for assistance.

YES, WE ARE ALL TIRED OF MASKING, BUT ....

Our governor sent out a statement that the mandate is still in effect for K through 12 schools. Dr. RaeNell Houston, Superintendent of New Orleans Catholic Schools, has respectfully asked that we comply with the governor's mask mandate. This applies to all faculty, staff, and students during all parts of the school day and events. So we must still follow our mask protocols at SMM. Hang in there and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Order online at www.jostens.com/YearbookPlease

Would you like to recognize your children for their success in school this year? Place a congratulatory ad for his/her promotion? Would you like to advertise your business in a place where over 500 parents can see it?

It’s easy to create a recognition ad. Just send us a copy of your favorite photo and compose your message. While you’re thinking of what your ad will look like, also think about the size of the ad space. Select a horizontal or vertical format in a variety of sizes and costs. Take a look at the examples in our brochure. You can do the same thing for a business ad.

Please click on this link for information about placing ads our yearbook this year. https://yearbookavenue.jostens.com/sell/ad/offers.html

You design your own ad, but it must be in good taste and appropriate for a Catholic elementary school. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Gay in the school office.

UPDATE ON THE STEAM CAMP

We have extended the age for STEAM Campers to include those entering 7th grade. So, current sixth graders going into 7th grade may attend STEAM Camp this summer.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM FR. ED

ADULT CONFIRMATION

The sacrament of Confirmation is the formal sacrament of completing the three Sacraments of Initiation begun at baptism. For parents who are baptized Catholics not yet confirmed, being a confirmed Catholic adult is a sign of maturity in the practice of the Faith and a great way of modeling full participation in the life of the Church.

At this time we invite baptized Catholics to consider ‘signing up’ for receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.

Please call the church office to discuss the possibility of receiving the sacrament of Confirmation in the near future. 985-643-6124

Please pray for the families and friends of our SMM community who have asked for our prayers. If you would like us to pray for a loved one, please send Coach Gay an email: gknock@saintmm.org.

For all service men and women; first responders; police; firefighters; health care workers; and everyone who is keeping us safe, protected, and fed during the COVID 19 crisis.

Simone Boell, Dale McCloskey, Ryan Ware, Lorraine Olmo, Jessica Bodron, Nicholas Eirich, Cheryl Swanson, Kaleb Manuel, Nicole Forrest, Lisa Ferrer, Mrs. Peterson's Mom, Richard Michell, Patsy Meyers, Roger Bacon, Michelle Cottam, Michael Buckley, Melissa Dragon, Barbara Koch, Ron Meyers, Kristen Knock, Katie Chabreck, and Mrs. Riviere.

For the soul of former SMM student Ty Gilmore; for his family and friends and for all those who mourn his loss.

For the intentions of the parishioners of St. Luke, St. Genevieve, St. John of the Cross, St. Peter and Paul, and Sacred Heart parishes.

For all those sick and suffering from the Coronavirus, may they recover quickly and completely.

Please Pray for Our Priests

In addition to our requests for prayers for our SMM families and community, we request that you pray for individual priests in our Archdiocese. Our priests need our prayers as much as we need theirs.

Here is a brief prayer that you may want to use:

Eternal Father, we lift up to you these and all the priests of the world. Sanctify them. Heal and guide them. Mold them into the likeness and holiness of your Son, Jesus, the Eternal High Priest. May their lives be pleasing tp you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
