Let's Celebrate Read Across America Day!

About NEA’s Read Across America - Focus on Dr. Seuss:

The National Education Association is building a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now in its 18th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child."

Oh the places you'll go!

Miller's Littles Making Paper Mache Globes...so we can learn more about all the places we can go...of course!

Oh, the places students will go when they open up a good book! The National Education Association in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, celebrates the 18th annual “Read Across America Day” on Monday, March 2, which is also the 111th birthday of author Dr. Seuss. “As educators, we’re constantly striving to connect with each child and discover his passions and unlock her potential. NEA’s Read Across America is just one of the ways that we reach children with a very important message that reading is fundamental to being a life-long learner,” said NEA President Lily Eskelsen García. “With more than 45 million people, young and old, participating every year, NEA’s Read Across America is not just a phenomenon—it’s a reading movement.” “Good education inspires students’ natural curiosity, imagination and desire to learn,” added Eskelsen García. “Of all the things we teach our kids, the most important is a love of learning, and when they unlock that potential, oh, the places they’ll go!”

Getting warmed up to the slimy glue :}

We took three days to make our globes and by the third day, we jumped right in with no problem at all!
