Lincoln Elementary Weekly Update
January 8, 2020
Message from Mrs. K
Happy new year, Lincoln families!
We are so excited to be back with our students, but boy are they tired! Easing back into a structured schedule can often be exhausting for our young students, so you may find them extra tired or emotional tonight and this weekend.
While we are thrilled that we are able to be in school, there is still a lot of stress and anxiety out there around the pandemic. Recent events have added to that stress and, even though we don’t think it, our youngest students often pick up on that stress. If your children are asking questions and you’d like some help with answering them, please check out the following resources:
How to Talk to Kids About Riots at the U.S. Capitol (NPR article, and some great listening opportunities linked there as well)
7 Books to Help Address and Discuss Tough Topics With Kids (KQED/MindShift - read or listen)
Please take a look through our Lost & Found (photos below) and alert the office if you recognize something. It is always a good idea to get your child’s name and/or initials on every item as soon as you are able. There are so many black gloves, black hats, and black boots floating around our halls!
In partnership,
- Mrs. Kirkwold
