The Boom Site Creative Writing Summer Intensive 2019
Novel? Screenplay? Podcast? Graphic novel? Poetry? Song lyrics? Can't decide? Want to do them all? Join us the last two weeks of June for a summer writing intensive customized for students in grades six through twelve that explores all the possibilities and prepares you to write the tale you know needs to be told!
Summer Intensive: Creative Writing Sampler
Week 1 (June 17-21): Fiction and Non-fiction
Week 2 (June 24-28): Poetry, Podcasts, Drama and Screenplays
Both weeks from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at ArtReach St Croix
Join us for the third Creative Writing Sampler Summer Intensive: A two-week creative writing intensive will provide an overview of the four major genres of literature - fiction, nonfiction, drama and poetry - and build the skills and knowledge necessary to write and edit creative works. In addition, we will offer an opportunity to learn the illustrative skills of the visual arts. Week 1 will consider fiction, graphic novel writing and non-fiction. Week 2 will provide an overview of drama, screenplays, podcasts and poetry. Classes will be taught by published authors including popular young adult writer, Anne Greenwood Brown and New York Times Best Selling author Jacqueline West; historical fiction writers, Gary Bush and Diane Dettman: graphic novelist Ted Anderson; drama and screenwriter Jane Fredericksen and LA producer and actor Leah Fein, poets, dynamic language arts teachers and local literary professionals. Students can attend one week or both.
Tuition $175 for one week, $250 for two weeks. ~ scholarships are available, and no one is turned away for financial reasons. Programming will take place at Art Reach St Croix, 224 N Fourth Street in Stillwater, MN 55082 (across from the Stillwater Public Library).
