Roman prisons do not relate to how we think of them in the modern world. Accused wealthy citizens were simply kept under house arrest, depending on how you behaved until a trail could take place.
Modern Day Prison
Modern day prisons also hold an individual charged with or convicted of a crime until a trial is held.
