Last Week before Summer

With weather like this, it feels like summer already.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are Early-Outs with students going home at 1:00pm. Friday, May 19th is the last day of school. Teachers finalize report cards on Monday, May 22nd and they will be available through PowerSchool by May 26th.

Thursday, August 17th is the first day of school for the 2023-2024 school year. Tuesday, August 15th is our Meet n' Greet: 5:30-6:30pm. This is when classlists are finalized and shared with families. You may see things during the summer but changes happen up to the last minute. The Arctic Light office opens July 31st.

Take time to plan your summer. These months are valuable for students to make advancements in their reading and math. Make the learning fun, challenging, different and the students will spend more time with the subject. More time usually leads to more learning and moving ahead - always a bonus.

Yearbooks for Sale - $10 at the office.

If you have questions about the upcoming Alaska Reads Act - please stop by the office so we can talk. The more parents know, the more likely next year will be successful.

Summer Workbooks - we have Summer Workbooks for Second Graders moving into Third Grade. We also have some other workbooks in the office for: Kindergarteners moving into First, First into Second, Third into Fourth, and a few for Fourth graders moving into Fifth. Stop by the office/ let the office know if you are interested in one of these workbooks.

Bicycling students - need to wear helmets, use a bicycle lock, and walk their bike while on school property.

Thank You - Ms. Blackwell is Ready.

It's been seven years and it struck me that by retiring I'll be losing my pass for Ft. Wainwright. I have learned much here, shared all that I had, and gained more than I ever imagined as the principal of Arctic Light. Now it is time for new energies and ideas. Ms. Blackwell is more than ready. For all of this, I am most thankful.

Enjoy... and..
