Recap of Our Professional Learning
Acceleration Vs. Remediation
The Five Behaviors of Highly effective Teams!
Conflict is naturally uncomfortable, but productive conflict focused on concepts and ideas is essential for any great team to grow. When teams have a foundation of vulnerability-based trust, conflict simply becomes an attempt to find the best possible solution in the shortest period of time.
Commitment is clarity around decisions, not consensus. With commitment, teams move forward with complete buy-in from every team member – including those who may initially disagree.

Accountability- It's easy to avoid difficult conversations, but calling out peers on performance or behaviors that might hurt the team is essential to productivity. By “entering the danger” with one another, team members feel trusted, respected, and responsible for getting things done right.
Results - One of the greatest challenges to team success is the inattention to results. Great teams ensure all members, regardless of their individual responsibilities and areas of expertise, are doing their best to help accomplish team goals.
ALL In Learning
The ALL In Learning Cloud will provide you with a variety of data collection options and reduce the amount of time you spend grading student activities. It will automatically aggregate the data so the PLC can immediately determine best practices and strategies for student intervention. As a campus in its fourth year of Improvement Required it is crucial that we don't work within the bubble of isolation, we instead collaborate with each other in a timely fashion to ensure acceleration and intervention are being carried out with a sense of urgency daily, weekly and every six weeks.
Instruction Calendars & Lesson Planning
1. Objective (This is quick write because you have already developed the objective on your IPC.)
2. Key Points (This is the academic vocabulary and skills your students will need to know to have complete mastery of the LO.)
3. Success Criteria ( Demonstration of Learning) (This is also crucial to ensuring your students have mastered the daily LO, therefore alignment and specificity is of the utmost importance.
4. Independent Practice - During this portion of the lesson students are working independently, however it is during this phase of lesson that you may provide assistance to students as needed. This not the time to sit down---- this is the time to monitor students through the use of advancing, prompting and probing questions. You may need to do a quick mini one-one lesson
5. Guided Practice - Students and Teacher work through sample together with pause so that teacher can check for understanding. Allow for misconceptions to be corrected immediately.
6. Introduction to New Materials (New Learning) - teacher use a variety of strategies to support students understanding of new materials. Teacher may use a think aloud, guide notes for students to work through as teacher does the heavy lifting.
(4, 5, and 6 are bulk of the work that must be given much time and consideration on the delivery of each of these components. Failure to consider the guiding questions that are outlined in each section of lesson plan will not lead to student mastery of a given S.E. Therefore be very careful in how you plan for these three areas!)
7. Opening/Hook - Now that you have a complete understanding of what you want your students to know upon the completion of this lesson sequence. You will be able to develop a opening or hook that is aligned to what will be taught during your lesson sequence. Develop a hook that will totally ensure the attention and engagement of your students.
8. Closure/ Exit Ticket - The exit ticket or closure tells you if you were successful in the delivery of you lesson. This the portion of lesson that tell you, Yes, my student have totally mastered this concept or I didn't plan in way that reach my students. Remember, GOOD FIRST INSTRUCTION IS A MUST, IT IS DIFFICULT TO UN- TEACH A SKILL THAT HAS BEEN TAUGHT WRONG!
Also, remember this is the order in which we develop and plan our lessons. It is not however the order in which we deliver and teach the lesson.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
