The Positivity Project - GRATITUDE!
This week our students continue their investigation about the the character strength of Gratitude!
What is gratitude?
Gratitude is the quality of feeling and expressing thankfulness and appreciation. It is an affirmation that there is goodness in other people and the world, and that we have received that goodness. People with the strength of gratitude have a readiness to show appreciation for kindness and also to return kindness. A leading expert, Robert Emmons, calls gratitude a “relationship strengthening emotion because it requires us to see how we’ve been supported and affirmed by other people.”
The parent virtue for bravery is transcendence. These strengths allow people to rise above their troubles and find meaning in the larger universe. Strengths of transcendence are appreciation of beauty and excellence, connection/purpose, gratitude, hope/optimism, and humor.
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” — William Arthur Ward

Survey - 5 Things you wish you knew about BCES - Last Chance to take the survey!!!!
Our PTA's School of Excellence committee is working on a roadmap to excellence. As a part of their plan they would like to focus efforts on supporting student success, which in turn means supporting parents.
They are planning to create a Parent Resource Library and would like to include the top 5 things parents wish they had known when their children started at BCES. Since our population is ever changing with new people moving in the area, and our new Kindergarten parents starting every year, they feel this would be a great source of information.
Please select 5 of the things you wish you had known before your family started at Buckhorn Creek. Feel free to use the other section to include items not listed.
If you found and utilized the information located through the compass or other resources you can still select that item to include for new parents.
