A Note From the Principal
Dear Woodholme Families,
As you saw in the very top message of the newsletter, Woodholme will start ten minutes later next year. We just found out from the BCPS Office of Transportation, so we want to get the word out to our families so that arrangements can be made before the start of the school year. We will be sending home a letter with students today, and we will post the information on our school website and in our newsletters and Connect Ed calls/emails.
We are very excited this year to again showcase student talents and work by inviting families and community members to Woodholme on May 17th from 5:45 - 7:45 PM for our second annual Student Showcase night! The 5th grade band/orchestra and chorus will perform at 6:00, and the Rockin' Rockets will perform afterwards. Every student in the school will have something to display, so feel free to stop in and celebrate our students with us!
Every year the arrival of May brings the national Teacher Appreciation Week which is traditionally celebrated the first week in May. This year due to the PARCC testing taking place this week, administration changed Teacher Appreciation Week for Woodholme teachers to last week. This past Friday the PTA provided teachers with a special lunch and classroom treats, so thank you PTA! I would like to encourage all students and parents to take time this week to show your appreciation to our hardworking teachers by sending in a note of thanks or encouragement to your children's teachers. Woodholme teachers plan and implement great instruction for our students, so let's celebrate their dedication during National Teacher Appreciation Week this week!
The state mandated PARCC testing will take place the next three weeks at Woodholme, so thanks for avoiding those important testing dates when scheduling dentist and doctor appointments for your 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. See the calendar attached to this newsletter for the exact PARCC testing dates for your child(ren).
We believe the official last day of school will be Friday, June 17th, and as soon as the end of the year schedule is official, we will let you know since it impacts our end of the year activities.
Thank you for reading the newsletter and school emails to stay informed about Woodholme! We appreciate your communication, collaboration and support!
