LESS THAN ONE WEEK LEFT TO ENROLL FOR DC!
December 20th is the cut off for students in Tyngsborough to enroll for the DC trip in April 2018. Any students in this district need to enroll now to have a spot in April. The entire fee does not need to be paid by the 20th, but families need to make a downpayment to secure a spot in April. Tickets and rooms must be set aside, and tours need to be planned. EF needs to order the tickets and does so well before we leave for the trip, and they cannot always add on extras at the last minute. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Please click here for the trip info/ to register!

For those 8th grade families already enrolled for DC:
Please note that this year all students travelling with the school to Washington need to agree to and sign the school travel policy on points of attendance, discipline and academics. The travel agreement is HERE! Please read over, print out, sign and give to either Mr. Maslanka or the office. Thank you in advance.
Your feedback is important to us!
Good afternoon!
As we strive to enhance communication within our district, we recently revamped our school and district websites.
We would appreciate your feedback on this short, anonymous survey regarding our overall communication efforts.
Thank you for your time!

Postural Screenings
Postural Screening
Postural screenings will be conducted at TMS for every student starting the week of December 11, 2017 and will continue until complete.
The purpose of postural screening is threefold: (1) to detect early signs of spinal problems that should have further medical evaluation, (2) to provide regular monitoring, and (3) to reduce the need for surgical remedies. Screening must be done annually in grades 5-9 because of growth spurts and diverse rates of physical maturation. If your child’s doctor performs the screening at their well visit, please ask them to document their findings on their physical form.
Postural screening is required by Massachusetts General Law. Like other screening programs conducted in the schools, this program is not intended to provide medical diagnosis, but rather to detect possible early signs of spinal problems that should have further medical evaluation. If your child has any unusual findings, you will be notified and asked to take your child to their physician for medical evaluation.
Girls and boys are screened separately and total privacy is afforded each student.
If a parent/guardian refuses postural screening by the school, written documentation provided by the family physician must be submitted to the school nurse, including the date of the screening, results, and physician's name.
Please contact the Health Office at 978-649-3115 with any questions or concerns.
6th Grade Medical Information
Vaccinations-
Prior to entering the 7th Grade, all students must provide a copy of a current physical (signed by an MD and dated within one year) and proof of the following immunizations: 1 dose of tdap, 2 doses of MMR, 2 doses of Varicella and 3 doses of Hepatitis B. Each time your child receives an immunization or has his or her yearly physical exam, please send a copy to the health office to keep your child’s file up to date.
Homeless Help from THS
For the next two weeks, the Tyngsborough High School Student Council is partnering with the UMass Lowell Men’s Basketball Riverhawks to help those struggling with homelessness in our area. At collection boxes located at the middle school, elementary school, high school, and town hall, we will be collecting hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, socks, and blankets. All donations go to the Lowell House of Hope. In addition, we will be collecting these items at the men’s basketball game on Saturday, December 23rd at 1pm. Using the following link, tickets for this game are discounted to only $3! If you bring a donation to the game, you will receive a free ticket voucher to an upcoming UMass Lowell hockey or basketball game. Please consider donating to this great cause! Thank you for supporting our mission and we hope to see you there.
Ski Club is coming!
Interested in Skiing or Snowboarding this winter? The Ski & Snowboard Program travels to Wachusett Mountain to ski and board on Tuesdays starting on Jan 2nd. The program runs for 6 weeks, and is open to both TMS & THS students. The overall cost is $240. The bus leaves the Norris Rd campus at 2:10 and arrives back in the Norris Rd. parking lot at approx. 8PM.

All the homework in one place
From our resident programmer, Wilson Gramer:
We can all agree that at some points it’s hard to keep track of all your homework for the night. Even if you have an agenda book, it’s one extra thing you have to bring home that you might lose anyway!
I’ve been working with our principal, Mr. Pollet, to create a solution that we will all benefit from. It’s called TPSHomeworkBot, and basically it automatically pulls the homework from your teacher’s blogs and sends you a notification right to your phone through Twitter. It can also give a nightly summary so you know what blogs to continue reading.
So you’re probably wondering, “how do I sign up?” It’s simple! You’ll see flyers and posters around the school with codes on them. Simply scan the big code and then the code with your grade using your phone’s camera. Make sure to follow both accounts and turn on notifications for it to work correctly. And if you don’t have Twitter or don’t plan to get it, there will be an email version coming soon.
So that’s the brief rundown of TPSHomeworkBot. If you have any questions, ask your teachers to email them to Mr. Pollet. I hope you’ll enjoy using TPSHomeworkBot as much as I enjoyed creating it! Thank you and have a great day!
