The Lion Lowdown

March 2021

Dear SHES Family and Friends,

Spring is approaching and learning is in full swing here at the SHES. As you may know, this is a time of year that students make the most academic and social learning improvements. Make school a priority. Very soon the weather will change with spring right around the corner. It can be challenging to keep our children focused on learning. What can you do to make school a top priority for your child? Keep these ideas in mind:

  • Make attendance your number one priority. Let your child know that unless they are sick, they must attend school (and be on time.) Make an effort to schedule appointments after school hours.

  • Show you care. Talk about school activities and projects.

  • Remain positive. Try to set a positive example for your child, even when your own day has been challenging. If you show a positive attitude about your work, your child may feel better about their own.

With Lion Pride,

Mr. Bradshaw

Read Across America Week

During this week, students in SHES are celebrating reading. Through the week students have mystery readers, guest readers, reading games and even competitions. Students were excited to have dress up theme days to help celebrate this special week. See a few pics below of the fun we have at SHES!

Counselor's Corner

We have been exploring careers and observing the different career paths and career clusters in counseling. We have discussed our interests and skills along with the type of environment we like to be in. These characteristics can help us pinpoint a possible career path.

Also in March, Our 3rd and 4th grade students are preparing to Rock the MAP test. MAP practice is taking place so we don’t have any “stage fright” for this end of the year assessment. In counseling, we are setting goals and discussing any worries students may have. We are going to “drum out” any negative thoughts and continue to say I can Rock the MAP test :)

The MAP test will take place during the week of April 12th. A note with details will go home to explain what the MAP test is along with more specifics.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.
