Principal's Message

Hello Hueneme Elementary Families,

Happy March Families! Please take a few minutes to learn more about what's been happening around the Hueneme Campus-

Daylight Savings Time: This Sunday, March 12th is the beginning of Daylight Savings time. Please mark your calendars and move your clocks forward one hour.

Spring Picture Day: Our Spring Picture Day is coming soon- Friday, March 17th! This year it happens to land on the same day as St. Patrick's Day! We will have green beads for everyone as they arrive onto the campus that day. Please feel free to dress students without worrying about them wearing green.

Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration: The Hueneme office is currently taking packets to enroll TK and K students for the 2023-2024 school year! Our hours for enrollment are Monday through Friday from 9:00-10:30 and Wednesday's from 1:30-2:30. If those times do not work, please call the office to schedule an appointment.

PTA Information: Thank you to the families that participated in our Toppers Fundraiser! Our Hueneme PTA has been busy planning some additional fun family events! On Friday, March 24th we will have a family movie night in the cafeteria. Our PTA will have some food items for sale that evening. A flyer will be going out with all of the movie night information later this month.

Office News: *Friendly Reminder* If your cell phone number or pick up person has changed, please come to the office and update the emergency card.

Shine Session 3 paperwork has been sent home with students. Hueneme is offering Dance, Cooking, and Live Theater. Please turn your paperwork into the office or send it with your student.

Attendance Matters: Thank you for your continued support with attendance! As a reminder, the first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. That gives our students time to unpacking their backpacks, and get into class by the 8:00 a.m. bell. When students arrive at 8:00 a.m. they are considered tardy. In addition, thank you for calling the office to clear absences. We appreciate families calling the office and keeping students home when they have a fever, cold symptoms, vomiting, etc.

Safety First: Safety is important in and around our school! Many cars stop in the middle of the streets to let their children out of the car or for students to get into cars. There is limited parking at Hueneme and drop off and pick up gets busy! Please do your very best to find a parking spot. This puts our students and families in danger when they run out into the street. In addition, this also holds up the traffic that are also trying to pick up. If we all do our part, I know we can get to and from school safely! Thank you in advance for your help!

Parking Lots: Please keep in mind that the Hueneme parking lots are extremely busy with traffic. If you are dropping off students in the morning at the Clara gate, please pull forward and have students get out of the car. Drivers, please remain in the car so that the traffic continues to flow. This will help our Hueneme community. The other parking lots on 3rd Street are staff parking only. Thank you for your support and good driving!

Entering School: For the 2022-2023 school year, we will have BOTH GATES OPEN as in past years. If your child is having breakfast, please have them enter at the back cafeteria gate from 7:35-7:55. Upper grade students can enter that gate as well. Primary students are welcome to enter on the Clara St. gate. The Clara St. gate opens at 7: 35. Both gates close promptly at 8:00. Late arrivals should report to the office for a tardy slip.

There is NO supervision prior the gate opening. Please do not drop students off earlier than 7:35. Thank you!
