Sand Ridge "Shark Bites" Update
December 12, 2021 - Issue #15
Good Afternoon Shark Families!
What an exciting time and time of year at Sand Ridge Elementary! Our week was wonderful, with two AMAZING movie nights and a fun-filled and informative Spirit Week where we learned about Inclusive Schools Week. We are anticipating more awesomeness this week! Classrooms have lots of fun learning activities planned and celebrations as well.
Here's a look at what's going on this week...
- The Countdown to the Break Spirit Week is this week. See the listing of themes below.
- The PTO Santa Shop has been extended through Tuesday, December 14th. They have restocked items and are looking forward to our students finishing their shopping next week.
- Our next PTO Meeting will be on Tuesday, December 14th at 6:00 pm in the Media Center
- Also on Tuesday, our Chorus and Hand Bell Choir will present their first concert in a very long time. This will take place in the gym and will begin at 6:30 pm.
- The School Leadership Team will meet on Thursday, December 16th at 7:00 am. Parents are invited to attend. If you are planning to attend, please let Mrs. Gartner know so that we can be certain to have enough materials on hand.
A few other notes of information to share...
- Our new PE teacher resigned suddenly last week. Mrs. Gartner and Mr. Henderson are already in the process of searching for a new PE teacher and we feel quite certain that the right person is headed our way.
- We are still requesting and accepting gift cards to local businesses in denominations of $5 and $10 to be given to our staff members as part of our staff activities leading up to Christmas Break. Please see below and thank you to those who have already shared.
- In early January, I (Mrs. Gartner) will be having surgery and will be out of school for 6-8 weeks as I recuperate. We have been preparing for this anticipated absence and I am confident that all will continue to run smoothly under Mr. Henderson's leadership and the work of the phenomenal team here at Sand Ridge. I will be anxious to return and will miss the Sharks during my absence.
This will be my final Smore of 2021. The next school newsletter will be sent on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy Holiday! Thank you for your support of our school and for allowing us to spend everyday with the most wonderful children there are! We are blessed to be at Sand Ridge Elementary, where EVERYDAY is SHARK-TASTIC!!
Merry Christmas!

Movie Nights at Sand Ridge
We had a wonderful two nights of Movies at Sand Ridge as we celebrated the culmination of our 1 School, 1 Book initiative! Thank you to all of those who came out to enjoy a movie with us. Between the two evenings, we had over 300 guests, and by having two showings each night, we were able to promote safe distancing.
We are excited to start thinking about a book for next year's 1 School, 1 Book!
