A Letter From Mrs. Tennies, Our Principal
This month, I would like to share with you a congratulations letter that I received from Richard Woods, The Georgia State School Superintendent, regarding Chestatee’s academic performance.
Receiving a letter such as this one, is very special. Being named a Title 1 Reward School is based on three years of work. As the principal, I felt extremely proud of our students, teachers, and families for working so hard together.
Let’s continue to work together. We have more to do!
What's Coming up at the T?
Family Dance! January 29th - 6:00-8:00pm
The theme of the dance is the 80's, so the more hair spray and neon colors you wear, the more totally awesome it will be! The best dressed boy and girl will win a rad prize! Food, drinks, snacks, and fun will be available. The dance will run 6-8pm, and drop-offs are not allowed. More information will be sent home with your student/s later this month.

News from our PTA
Honoring Our Heroes Essay Program
The Chestatee PTA is excited to kick-off the 2015-2016 Honoring Our Heroes essay program the week of January 11th. Honoring Our Heroes (HOH) is a writing program that encourages students to discover "real life" heroes, and recognize a person who is special to them. This individual can display trust, bravery, compassion, leadership, etc. Students will not be allowed to write about cartoon heroes, professional athletes, or movie stars, but rather someone who has made a more personal impact on their life. Some examples are family members, teachers, bus drivers, doctors, pastors, mentors, public safety personnel, or soldiers. Essays will be written in class, and a top winner from every grade will be submitted to the County.

A Few Words from our Parent Involvement Coordinator
Losing weight, exercising, calling my family more often, etc. etc. etc. The list of New Year’s Resolutions goes on and on, and yet every year I have trouble keeping any of them. So this year, I did something a little different and made a resolution that would help my first grader, Kristin. I decided to work on math facts daily with her even though it’s not part of her homework every day. That was something easy I could do with my child that would benefit her in the classroom.
Somehow when something helps my kid, I stick with it better than when it just helps me. Here are some ideas if you want to give it a try.
Make an appointment with me and get help with a question you have had regarding your child’s learning. I’m here to help you with strategies, resources, curriculum, technology, and anything else related to education. If you have missed a training or family night or you have questions regarding itslearning, I hope you will come see me. Just give me a call or an email and we’ll set it up!
Hope to see you soon!
