APEX Run Event Fundraiser
Get Ready! Our Apex FUN RUN event fundraiser and leadership program has began!
We love the amazing leadership and character building portion of the Apex program as it focuses on developing student self-control and interpersonal skills that are vital for school and life success. With this year’s #ApexAsOne theme, students will embark on an incredible two-week quest in search of the key to becoming great leaders, learning to dream big, and making a positive impact on the world. These quick, engaging lessons tie in with our schools vision and mission, encourage students to create a positive environment, and inspire them to lead by example.
✅ : The Apex FUN RUN event will be held on Friday, 03/04/22.
More info on how to make a pledge to support our school will go home next week!

2022 SIEGRIST ELEMENTARY RUNNING ACADEMY 4th & 5th GRADE
Siegrist Families,
Hello, I am happy to share an opportunity for your son/daughter. The Siegrist Elementary Running Academy is a group of 4th/5th grade students who train every Monday and Wednesday morning starting March 21st. We will be training to compete in the Platte County Mother’s Day 5k on May 7th at English Landing Park. We support this local cause, which raises money for school supplies for eligible low-income children that attend the annual Platte County Back to School Fair.
Our mission is to introduce students to the lifetime activity of long distance running while supporting a local cause. We will set goals, improve fitness levels, and enjoy being a part of a team in a fun environment. Parents are welcome to join us in the training and of course on race day!
There is a $15 dollar entry fee for the race which includes a t-shirt; however, there is no cost to train with our group if you cannot attend the race. I ask that runners sign up directly through the event website to participate in the 5k. I will not be collecting money.

Training will meet before school at the Siegrist Gym before heading out to the grass practice fields to train from 7:45-8:30 on Monday and Wednesdays. We will walk back to school as a group to start the day. Our first day of training will be Monday, March 21st.
Joining the Siegrist Running Academy is a commitment and students may need to run at home. While many students will be running at different paces, I want to remind you that 3.1 miles is a pretty big undertaking for 4th and 5th graders so they will need to take the training seriously. Finally, please make sure your child has a good pair of running shoes and has proper clothing for running outside in all conditions (it can still be chilly in March and April). They are more than welcome to bring clothes to change into before school starts.
If you have any further questions please contact me crawfort@platteco.k12.mo.us

Career Awareness Project:
This year we would like to try something new to allow for more community involvement and to bring more career awareness to our students. The goal of the project is to help students become aware of the variety of jobs in our community. At the elementary level students are introduced to jobs for career awareness, at the middle school there's a continuation of career awareness and career exploration and at the high school level it's career exploration and planning. If you would be willing to create a 3-4 minute video, on your phone or tablet, and talk about what a person in your job does, we'd love to highlight the work you do! All work has value and we are an interdependent society, so really hoping for a wide diversity of jobs to be shared. We would ask that all videos are emailed to Tina Kaiser at kaisert@platteco.k12.mo.us sometime during the month of February. Please consider sharing your job with our students!
FEBRUARY/MARCH
During the months of February and March students are learning about careers, their likes and dislikes, identifying workers in the school and family related to the six career paths, and understanding that all work is important. Inquire with your child(ren) what they have learned and what jobs they find interesting.
