Originally, it is supposed to be the eighty-third trout festival, but for three years during world war II Trout festival wasn't celebrated. The first trout festival was hosted in 1935,and the first Trout King was P.E Ummel. During the 1930's trout were booming in number in Kalkaska's rivers and lakes.

Come Join the Festivities!
Friday 29, at One O'clock come down to main street and watch the kiddie parade! Or hit up the carnival rides and return to main street Saturday at two O'clock to see the real parade. Then at five o'clock go and watch the smash em' and crash'em derby. Later on at dusk watch the fireworks display from the back of your car or on a carnival ride!
