Parent Corner
Parents & Guardians,
Summer will be here before you know it! It has been such a pleasure to get to know your children and to watch them learn and grow! I will miss our students moving on to kindergarten, but I know they will flourish and thrive next year!
Please visit your child's elementary school to register them for the upcoming school year. Once registration is complete, you can register for summer camp as well. All enrolled students entering kindergarten are eligible to enroll in our Cardinal Excel Summer Camp (June 5th-30th).
Please read this article for helpful tips to support your student moving on to kindergarten! https://www.parents.com/kids/education/elementary-school/your-kid-will-learn-in-kindergarten/
Our May Cooking with Math Crockpot meal will take place on May 11th. Students will make Slow Cooker Peach Cobbler. Your child will also read the book The Last Peach by Gus Gordon and receive a copy to take home!
Please save the date! Graduation ceremonies will take place from 10:00-11:00am as follows:
Monday, May 15th- Mrs. Kimbrough, Ms. Schafer & Ms. Johnson
Tuesday, May 16th- Ms. Hojnicki & Mrs. Bonilla
Friday, May 19th- Mrs. Haller & Ms. Garcia
An invitation will be sent home with your child soon. Only students moving on to kindergarten next year will participate in the graduation ceremony. Each student will receive 4 tickets for family members/friends to attend the graduation ceremony. Babies and small siblings will not need tickets. Students from other SCEC schools will not be able to attend the event. All guests should enter through door G for the graduation ceremonies.
We still need volunteers for our field day on May 23rd! Please inform your child's teacher if you are able to help. All volunteers must be approved. Volunteer applications are in our office. Please see the dates/times for our final May orientations below.
There will be a Parent Advisory Meeting & Title Policy Review Meeting @ 2:00pm in the Parent Cafe on Tuesday, May 2nd. We hope you are able to attend!
Thank you,
Mrs. Peters
Letter from the Social Worker
In May we will be continuing with the morning song “If You're Happy and You Know It!” We will be singing and utilizing the movements in this song as a class. We will continue with breathing techniques to help with calming down, using the five steps of self-regulation, and using the I choose self-control board. We will also be discussing the transition from pre-k to kindergarten and the rules and expectations we have learned here in pre-k so we can carry them over to our new school next year. We will be utilizing skill streaming lessons that teach and support being a good sport and relaxing! We will practice these lessons in the classroom on daily basis. The summer will be upon us and very soon we will be out of school. Remember to practice safety first in everything you do this summer, especially riding your bikes, going to the parks and swimming in the pools and the lake. Always swim with a partner for safety. Have a beautiful summer parents and students!
