News from Mr. Schettler
We’re off and running! The 2020-21 school year is underway and the students, parents, and staff are doing an outstanding job dealing with the uncertainty of what tomorrow brings. The smiles we see in the students’ eyes on a daily basis truly reassure us that having them in school is the right decision. If there is one thing that this pandemic has proven to us, it is that children are very resilient and adapt well to change when they have the support both at home and in school. I am very thankful for the flexibility, support, and positivity that the parents and staff have shown thus far throughout the year. Positivity goes a long way, and when students have positive things happening at home and at school, good things seem to happen to them on a regular basis. If there is one thing that I would like to stress, it would be to do the best you can to stay positive, even if things aren’t going the way you envisioned them to. It’s truly one of the best things you can do for your children.
Please continue to keep your children home when they are sick. The main symptoms that our guidance has us look for are a fever of 100.4 or greater, a new onset and/or worsening cough, difficulty breathing, and a new loss of taste or smell. Any one of those symptoms require us to send the student and household family members home. Two of the following symptoms require us to send them home as well: sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, muscle pain, excessive fatigue, new onset of a severe headache, new onset of nasal congestion or a runny nose. The decision tree that we have to follow can be found using this address: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/schools/exguide.pdf
Once again, thank you for your support during this time. By working together and staying positive, we can make this year a successful experience for our students and families. As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!
