Meet the New Buccaneers!
Mr. Warfield ~ 2nd Grade
I'm excited to be coming from Birmingham, England to join the team at Buckhorn Creek. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology before completing my Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education. I have been lucky enough, during the past four years, to teach children across the elementary age range which has given me a good understanding of how to help all children make good progress during their time at school.
When I'm not teaching, I try to spend my free time travelling and discovering different cultures and new parts of the world. I'm hoping to explore as much of America as I can during my time here. I am also passionate about music and love to watch my favourite artists performing live. I've got a lot of states and singers to tick off my bucket list!
Ms. Joleen Haynes ~ 1st Grade
My name is Joleen Haynes and I am so excited to be joining the Buckhorn Creek Family!
I earned my Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. After graduation, I spent several years in Corporate America working in the Learning and Development field as a Corporate Trainer. In 2008, I transitioned from teaching adults to nurturing young minds and began working for the Menomonee Falls School District in Wisconsin. I loved working with students so much that I began pursuing a Teaching Certification. In 2015, my family relocated to Apex, North Carolina where I have been substitute teaching for Wake County for the last 4 years. I am excited to be in the classroom full time again.
As an elementary educator, my focus is on creating a positive and productive learning environment. My goal is to create an engaging 21st-century classroom for students and families. I look forward to watching my students grow throughout the school year.
Outside the classroom I enjoy spending time with my three children. I have two daughters and a son. We just welcomed a pet fish into our home named Teacher. I also enjoy reading, movies and listening to a variety of podcast.
Ms. Jamilynne Ellis ~ 1st Grade
My name is Jamilynne Ellis and I was born and raised in Goldsboro, NC. I graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2018 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career at Lawrence Orr Elementary in Charlotte as a first grade teacher. I officially made Raleigh my home in June to be closer to my family. I am so excited to join the Buckhorn Creek Family as a Buccaneer!
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and my dog Macon. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies--Harry Potter is my favorite series. I am so excited to share my passion of teaching and reading to ensure all of my students have a wonderful year in first grade!
Before and After School Care!
Registration for our Before and After School Care begins on Thursday, August 8th from 9am-11am. Our focus during this time will be to support registration for the program. Families are welcome to register any time after this date. Please remember your $15 registration fee must be provided by check or money order. If registering for both programs, both registration fees can be combined on the same payment.
Please visit our website to access more information about the Before and After School programs.
Picnic in the Park
Please join us next week Wednesday, August 7th for a picnic in the park. Stop by your favorite restaurant or make a PB&J...whatever you decide bring your dinner to Womble Park from 5-7pm and hang out with other amazing Buccaneer families.
We will meet at the covered shelter close to the soccer fields. Children will be able to play on the playground. This is an easy and care free event. Come and join the fun.
Forms Days
