Assembly/Speaker Approval
I was reminded at the most recent Ad. Council Meeting about our Administrative Procedure for obtaining approval for assemblies and guest speakers.
Please see the attached Speaker/Assembly Application that must be approved prior to any assemblies or guest speakers coming into the building. If you are considering a guest speaker to visit your classroom, please complete the Speaker/Assembly Application by clicking here and submit to Devon. In addition, any guest speakers must also have an iChat completed prior to presenting in the building as well. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Winter NWEA Map Schedule - Please Review
I know it’s the last thing on our minds, but Winter NWEA is just 4 weeks away. It sounds like most of you have had a chance to review the schedule with your collegials and we made a few tweaks.
If you haven’t please take a look and let Ms. LaManna know of any conflicts or concerns.
19-20 NWEA/MAP Winter Schedule
(The purple shading indicates classrooms that have students who need accommodations.)
As in the fall, everyone will be responsible for helping to move the carts throughout the testing window. We all worked so well as a team in the Fall, I know we can do it again! Thanks in advance!

- TLIM - Leadership Day (Finding Balance)
Attendance Reminder
Please remember to your mark students as unexcused if you have not received a phone call or note from a parent. Please do not assume or take the word of another student as to why a student is not in class. This is very important because if the office does not know where a student is we have to call home and confirm the child is safe in a timely manner.
Additionally, if you have received notice of an excused absence, please make sure you are forwarding them to the office. Please note, we are trying to train our parents to contact the office for absences, not the classroom teacher.

GUIDING READING BOOKS - Tips for Finding Books by GENRE
The Amerman Book Room is coming along. Hopefully, by January all our leveled literature books that you selected to keep will be organized, labeled and have a space on our shelves. (These are the books in the white bins and we ask that you leave them be for the moment.) In the meantime, many of you have been checking out our Guided Reading Books. These are the books in the blue bins. Each title has six copies of the book and includes a Lesson Card. There are over 1000 titles that cover all the reading levels A to Z.
Many of you are already using the books for your small group instruction. They are available for all of you to use. For now, the check-out system is on the honor system. Take what you need and return them when you are done. We ask that you take the whole bag and return the whole bag. Look for a book return bin soon to help with returns and before the school year is over we will have a system in place to find titles more quickly.
Those of you who are already using these collections have had questions about how to find books that feature a specific skill or strategy. There have also been questions about finding specific genres. Currently there is not a way to locate titles based on a specific skill or strategy. There is a way to find books of a specific genre. It requires logging in to the on-line resources site and then doing a little ‘shopping’ through the blue bins.
Follow the steps in this SLIDES presentation to help you in your search:
Tips for Finding GR Books by Genre
If you would like an orientation to the Guided Book Resources that are housed in our book room, just ask and I’d be happy to walk you through them.
Next time we will take a closer look at the Lesson Cards that come with each set of Guided Reading Books.
Now that I've been observed...how do I upload and label evidence into pivot again?
1. Upload, name, and code evidence to a specific indicator.
2. To check where you have evidence by indicator.
