  • Resident name- Hawaiian, Kamaaina (native-born nonethnic Hawaiian), or Malihini (newcomer)
  • Motto- "Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono" which is Hawaiian, but translates to "The life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness"
  • History- Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959. Roughly 1,500 years ago, Polynesians from the Marquesas Islands first stepped foot on the Hawaii Island.
  • Industries- Tourism industry, defense is a big part of the economy because there are a lot of Army, Navy, etc. living there. They have such a tropical climate there, that they are able to grow flowers, coffee, and macadamia nuts.
  • People/culture- Every tradition in Hawaii is done for the same purpose, to show/represent how beautiful the land is. Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, Cameron Diaz, Mike Meyers, and Elton John and many more have bought/build land on Hawaii.

  • Motto- Eureka! Which means "I have found it!"
  • History- California was first sighted by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542, but its first Spanish mission was not established until 1769. California became a U.S. state in 1847 when Mexico surrendered it to John C. Frémont. By 1964, California has surpassed New York to become the most populated state.
  • Industries/agriculture- The long growing season and good soil plays a vital part in growing crops in California. California produced almost all of the country's almonds, apricots, dates, figs, kiwi fruit, nectarines, olives, pistachios, prunes and walnuts. It also leads in the production of avocados, grapes, lemons, melons, peaches, plums, and strawberries. They have a California Aerospace industry, service industry, and the Motion Picture Industry.
