This event will start with tastes of homemade food and cultural booths, and end with a high energy fashion show by our students and a variety of performances on stage!
Thank you, Maple Dale!
Green Team Tip of the Week
We’re all familiar with the term “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” and while most of us are great at recycling, we should focus on reducing and reusing whenever possible since recycling requires the use of a lot of energy. A great place to start reducing is with plastics. Some ideas include refusing to buy single use water bottles and always keeping a reusable one with you. Skip the snack and sandwich bags and opt for reusable containers for lunches and snacks on the go. Bring your own bags and containers when shopping for produce and bulk items (ideally from the farmers market!) Eat less meat and processed food. Cheap plastic toys- just say no! These are just a few simple ideas. For many more and some inspiration check out the Zero Waste Movement and always question whether there is something you can do to reduce.

Robotics, Tech Challenges and FIRST LEGO League Info
Dear Sycamore families,
The Sycamore High School Aves Ablaze robotics team hosted its inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge scrimmage this past Sunday, Jan. 14, with eight teams. Thank you to everyone at the district level and at the high school for their support of the event and the team.
In addition to Aves Ablaze, three additional teams had Sycamore students.
These three teams are:
- Innov8 with students from Sycamore JH
- Powerstackers with students from Sycamore HS
The teams will be competing in official qualifying tournaments the next two Saturdays at Van Wert and Walnut Hills. Check out the schedule at http://ispacestem.org/first-tech-challenge-qualifying-tournaments/ and go check them out.
The remaining teams at the scrimmage represented schools from throughout Cincinnati including St. Xavier and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.
Here is a link to the Dropbox folder where I've put the photos I took.
Also coming up is the FIRST LEGO League district qualifier on Sat., Jan. 20 where four teams (Brick Girls, Cyb3rstorms, Legion of Legos, and Lego Legends) with Sycamore students will be competing at iSpace in Sharonville for the opportunity to advance to states. You can watch them compete anytime between 1:00 and 4:30 p.m.
