Outdoor Work Day Tomorrow Morning!

Saturday, Oct. 10th, 9-11am

2400 Hefner Road

The Village, OK

Big Trash Pick Up at the school is coming up, and the hedges are due for a trim and weeds need pulling! If hedge trimmers, loppers and eradication of weeds make you feel empowered, join the clean up crew on Saturday morning, Oct. 10th from 9-11am. Bring yard tools, chainsaws, pole saws, stepladders, work gloves and water. Work will be focused on the west, south, and east sides of the main school. Students are welcome to come help with their families while supervised and following COVID-19 precautions. Tasks will include: trimming hedges and branches, treating and shellacking stumps for Outdoor Classrooms, moving rocks/dirt, tidying up the gardens, and more. Please RSVP if you plan to come.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

TCS Reception Postponed

The Tax Credit Scholarship information reception that was scheduled for this evening at St. Eugene has been postponed. We will let you know when it is rescheduled. Visit https://archokc.org/tcs-steugene for more information on why and how to donate.

Scam Alert!

Please be aware that someone is impersonating Mrs. Goldsworthy via email. We have had several staff members report the emails to us, but want parents to be aware as well. The sender name displays Mrs. Goldsworthy, but the email address is not hers. There have been similar scams with people impersonating our priests.

The email asks “Are you available?" or asks you to purchase gift cards. Mrs. Goldsworthy would never ask for money or gift cards via email without giving an explanation of the school-related fundraiser or purpose.

If you suspect someone is phishing for information, click on the name and address to verify. If the email does NOT come from principal@steugeneschool.org as the address, it is NOT from Mrs. Goldsworthy.

Parent/Teacher Conferences and Report Cards

Teachers should have communicated with families regarding conference options for this semester. Conferences will be scheduled throughout the month in person or via Zoom. If you have not yet heard from your child’s teacher regarding conference options, you should find out more this coming week. Report cards will go home Oct. 23rd. Please make sure your accounts are in good standing (tuition, lunch, missing library books, etc). Negative account balances will result in a report card hold until balances are in good standing.

School Picture Retakes

If your student missed their school picture day, retakes will be Wednesday, Oct. 21. Students getting a retake may wear their normal school uniform or dress as they would for weekend mass while following Free Dress Day guidelines as the bare minimum. No athletic wear permitted for school pictures. This is not a Free Dress Day for the rest of the school.

SALT Poinsettia & Wreath Fundraiser

We will be taking orders for beautiful Christmas poinsettias and wreaths this month! Sales will help fund our school service program, SALT. Watch for details and order forms to come out next week!

8th Grade Fundraiser

8th grade is selling super cozy stadium blankets and large, vented golf umbrellas that are perfect for rainy or sunny days! Both products feature our CSSE logo so you can show off your school pride! Because traditional fundraisers aren’t possible at this time, this will be the 8th grade’s primary way to raise funds for their class retreat and class parting gift. Order online by Oct. 15th. Estimated delivery: Oct 30th. Great idea for Christmas gifts! http://bit.ly/8th-csse-order

Save the date for the evening of October 30th. Families will sign up for a 30 minute time slot to creep, crawl, or walkabout and see themed trunks and show off costumes. Treat bags will be given out before each family leaves. Time slot sign up is coming soon.

Big picture
PTO wants your best recipes! The community of St Eugene Church and School put out a cookbook almost 15 years ago. With more people than ever staying home and cooking, it's the perfect year to make another one! We need your help though to make it the most tasty one yet! Please submit as many of your favorite recipes as you would like to https://createmycookbook.com/groups/PASKkeqmg. We are hoping to make this our most delicious cookbook ever! Copies will be available in time to give as holiday gifts!

Pass on the Plaid!

If you have plaid skirts, jumpers, ties and uniform skorts that you no longer need, please pass them on! Many of our families are still waiting on items that are back ordered, and your gently used items would be appreciated! Send only the items requested at this time, and make sure they are clean and undamaged. Students may bring to the office.

Looking for a Volunteer Pianist!

We would love to have music in the church again! We are looking for a volunteer or two to play the piano for either or both school masses each week. If you or your student is willing to play some of the liturgical music, please let Mrs. Goldsworthy know. principal@steugeneschool.org.

Eagle Excellence

Congratulations to 6th grader Kiona W. She made it on to the 12-1 EP at Oklahoma Peak Performance Club Volleyball!

Let us know about your student's achievements so we can celebrate their Eagle Excellence!

CSSE Family Feature!

We would like to start featuring a school family in every issue as a way for our community to get to know each other, even though we are practicing social distancing. If you would like to introduce your family to the rest of our community, please fill out this form and submit a family photo!

Parish News

Mass is still celebrated daily at St. Eugene, and with the exception of school mass, masses are open for all to come and participate while following COVID precautions. Archbishop Coakley has stated:

“Unless someone has a legitimate reason not to attend Sunday Mass (personal health or the health of someone they care for), they should not excuse themselves from Mass simply because the obligation has been temporarily lifted. We need the Mass. We need the Sacraments.”

St. Eugene’s weekend masses are Saturday at 5pm, Sunday at 9:30am and 5pm in English, and Sunday at 12 noon and 7pm in Spanish. The 5pm masses have had the lowest attendance, and may be a good option for those who would like to return in person for the first time. There are also weekday masses scheduled for you to attend. If you are not able to attend mass in person, please participate with your family online. All public masses are streamed on the church’s Facebook. You may also stream via the church’s YouTube channel for weekend masses.

Please Pray For...

Please pray for the father of archdiocesan priest Fr. Daniel Grover who is seriously ill and battling Covid-19. | Pray for all those who have been affected by Covid-19, whether by sickness, loss of job, isolation, or loneliness, etc. May all find strength, comfort and healing in this difficult time. | Pray for our staff who have been putting in many extra hours to prepare for the upcoming school year. Please pray for students and their families. May God grant us all patience and wisdom as we navigate a very different school year. Help us put our faith first and give grace to all.

If you would like to include something in the Prayer Requests section, please contact Kim Hattaway at eagleexpress@steugeneschool.org.
