Big picture

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. —Plato

Hey Tot Spot Family,

  • As the weather starts to get colder, make sure your kiddos have appropriate clothes in their backpacks as spares just in case!
  • Sign Up for Parent Conferences. They are a 15-30 minute hang out with your teacher to discuss progress and address any concerns and goals you have for your child here at the Tot Spot.

In the Classroom!

The Smalls

This month we are working following our daily routine, and participating in group activities. We will be learning our shapes and explore puzzles. We have introduced crayons to the senior Smalls, and they are imitating scribbles. The Jr. Smalls are experimenting with different textures. We will be doing fun sensory activities. Don't forget ornaments with grandparents is coming up so let them know so we can start getting a head count. If you have any questions just let your teacher know. We super excited for a fun Thanksgiving month!!!

The Junior Scouts & Stuart Littles

This month we will be working on using gentle hands with our friends. We will be continuing with color and shape recognition and reviewing our letter friends. We are excited about our future art, sensory and science projects. We have a lot to be thankful for this month! Don't forget ornaments with grandparents is coming up so let them know so we can start getting a head count.

The Scouts & Stuarts

This month we are working on using our listening ears and following our daily routine. We will be continuing reviewing all our shapes and starting to work on letter and number recognition. We have started putting together our names at table time and learning what each letter is. We will be doing some super cool experiments, art work, and sensory activities.

Happy Holidays!! The month we will be doing lots of festive things for the holidays!! We will be working a lot on fine motor and getting back in gear for preschool first goals!! We are still continuing to work hard on taking care of our classroom and putting items away when we are done playing with them. We're also doing a big push on using are math terms this month along with washing our hands and sneezing/coughing into our elbows. They have been doing pretty awesome with their listening ears and following directions. This month, we will have several fun experiments and open ended art activities.

This month we will be working on following directions and doing what we should without having to be asked. We have a busy month full of special events such as birthday's, PJ days, and Thanksgiving! We have been really excited knowing that we get to have 5 whole stay- at-home days with our parents over the Thanksgiving holiday! We will be working really hard on being nice to our friends and following the, "if you don't have anything nice to say, please do not say anything at all policy." We are also going to be transitioning back to NO TOYS FROM HOME UNLESS IT IS A SHOW AND SHARE ITEM. Toys from home have been causing some problems between the kiddos as well as being an interruption in class. We will be really trying to push the flashcards and Zoophonics books with the beginning readers. Please check your child's backpack every night and review them in the car or with your child at home so we can get them well on their way to independent readying. While helping them please remember to have them try and sound the words out before just blurting the answer out to them. Thank you for partnering with us!

There's still lots of awesome winter books to purchase. Check out all the deals for this month!! Scholastic will be sent out January 9th and will orders will be due January 18th. Our online code is HQ686

The Parent's Spotlight!

Thank you!!!

Thank you for the:

  • Paper donations, milk caps, stickers, and donuts

Would you like to donate?

We could use:

  • Glitter glue
  • Scrap paper

Is there ever a time when you say to youreself, " I wonder if The Tot Spot would want this"? We could use it in so many ways. You may have babies, but the whole school is yours. Everything can turn into a sensory activity or learning experience. So, before you throw out your junk, ask your teacher if it could be used.

The Teacher's Spotlight!

What mythical creature do you wish actually existed and why?

Ms. LeAndra: Mermaids of course!! Anyone who knows me knows I love Ariel!!

Ms. Corrine: Dragons because it'd be cool to ride a dragon

Ms. Emily: A unicorn because... “it’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!”

Ms. Jacanda: Mermaids of course! Because how cool would it be if ‘The little Mermaid’ was real? We would need to know their amazing make up tips because they are picture perfect under water of course!

Mr. Mike: Unicorns, Lela loves unicorns.

Ms. Stacey: Trolls and Fairies. Who wouldn't want to walk through the woods and get lost in that world?

Ms. Danielle: Dragons! For obvious reasons. Coolest things ever.

Ms. Crystal: None, I’m practical and they would serve no purpose in real world existence.

Mr. Andy: Someone I can tolerate…

Ms. Maggie: The mythical creature I wish existed is a fairy that came in and cleaned my classroom, my room and anything else that I have to clean. I would want this creature to exist because I do not like cleaning.

Ms. Mikayla: Dragons! I used to collect dragon figurines and I was obsessed with them when I was little.

Ms. Katie: I wish unicorns existed. I was obsessed with them as a little girl and love horseback riding. So, it would combine two of my favorite things.

Ms. Hailey: unicorn so I can ride on it & fly

Ms. Ericka: MERMAIDS!! But I'm not sure that my answer counts because I think their down there in that big place we call an ocean. Nobody has found then yet. Let's remember that only 5% of the ocean has been discovered!

Ms. Erin: Pegasus, because Greek myths are my favorite

Ms. Alisha: I’m not really into mystical creatures.

Ms. Allison: I would want Great Eagles from LotR, mostly because it would be awesome to have giant birds do my bidding, but secondly because I would want to fly with them!
