Long Beach CC Newsletter
March/April 2020
Community Connections Events
The months of April and May have us doing testing. Our teachers and staff will all be working during these weeks to complete the testing for hundreds of students. We also have Spring Break from April 3rd through April 10th. Due to all of these events, our CC events will be minimal during these months so please see below for the May event. We will also have one last end of the year event that combines with the region in June so be on the lookout for that from your HST!
We have some great testing resources below so please reach out to your HST if you have any questions!
State testing (also known as SBAC or CAASPP) is a critical portion of what we are required to do as a public school in California. Your child's participation in testing is necessary for us to keep our charter going strong. It can also provide you with valuable information on your child's academic progress. With Community Connections, your child has been seeing the faces of teachers they will see at testing so we are confident their comfort level will be increased since they know the teachers that will be administering the tests!
Please see below for resources for the required state testing for students in grades 3-8 and 11:
- Our number one resource is the amazing testing site that has been put together to help you with information and TONS of resources! You can find the Online Practice Test there as well as resources on typing practice and preparing for the test. Please take some time to visit the SBAC portion of the site!
- Click here to explore the testing site: https://sites.google.com/inspireschools.org/parent-testing-resource-site/sbac
Important Reminders
- Parents - CC Events are not drop-off nor are the CC staff responsible for supervising students at these events. Parents are responsible for providing supervision of their children for every Community Connection activity, event and field trip.
- Nut Aware - Please be aware we may have students with allergies - please bring nut-free snacks and food with you.
- Sick Children - We know no one wants to miss our gatherings, but keeping ill students at home protects everyone, including those with fragile immune systems. Thank you for not spreading germs.
