Book Fair!
The West End Scholastic Book Fair is October 17 - 21st in the library. We will be open throughout the day for walk-ins and for entire classes. Please email me if you'd like to schedule a time for your class to come so we don't have overlaps. We will have more books and fewer knick knacks this year. All sales are final and don't forget to remind your students that they must include tax. We will be open late on Thursday the 20th to accommodate parents who might be coming early to Homecoming.
Book Fair is an exciting time with lots of opportunity for kids and teachers to increase their personal libraries. And as always, West End employees get a 10% discount.
Bright Bytes
Bright Bytes is a program that takes data from West End and analyzes it into easy to understand components. Bright Bytes also offers insights into how to use the data effectively. Jason Bihler said we have access to Bright Bytes data for our school. If you don’t know what BB is, here is some info (scroll down under analysis). http://brightbytes.net/us/ To view your school’s survey results, use the login information below.

Teen Read Week
Teen Read Week is Oct 9 - 15th. Students have the opportunity to “read off” their fines. Students can spend 2 hours reading at the West End library or any public library and NPL will waive their fines. I will also count time reading in your classroom toward this as long as you write me a note or send me an email stating who the reader is and how long they read.
Read 5 or more hours and they can be entered to win one of ten $25 and $50 Visa Gift Cards.
This is an EXCELLENT way for students to read off their fines for both NPL and old fines here at West End.
