Geography
Honduras is a Central American country with Caribbean Sea coastlines to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south (via the Gulf of Fonseca). The ancient Mayan ceremonial site Copán has stone-carved hieroglyphics and tall stone monuments. The Bay Islands, part of a massive barrier reef, which are popular for scuba diving.

Economy of Honduras
Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America. It suffers from extraordinarily unequal distribution of income, as well as high underemployment. While historically dependent on the export of bananas and coffee, Honduras has diversified its export base to include apparel and automobile wire harnessing.

Climate: tropical with cooler, more temperate weather in the mountains with temperatures ranging from 16°C (61°F) to 20°C (68°F)
Seasons: Oct–Feb Rainy season on the north coast and islands, but dry in the interior.
Mar–Apr Hot and dry everywhere, with temperatures soaring inland.
Jun–Sep Peak season for viewing whale sharks in Utila.

History of Honduras
Honduras was inhabited by the Maya. Columbus then explored the country in 1502. Honduras declared its independence from Spain in 1821 to form a federation of Central American states. In 1838, Honduras left the federation and became independent.
The Mayans
The modern day Maya still live within the boundaries of their old empire in Central America. The region that makes up this area now consists of the countries of Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and five states in Mexico.

Natrual resorces: timber, gold, silver,copper, lead, zinc, iron ore, antimony, coal, fish, shrimp, and hydropower
Exportation of Honduras
Coffe, Bananas, and Cultivated shrimp are important exports of honduras.
Other exports are clothing, cigars, melons, and Unused postage, such as stamps or revenue.

Honduras is a Presidential representative democratic republic. The President of Honduras is both Head of State and Head of Government, and also the head of a multi-party system.
