Dear Area 31 Entrepreneurs and Friends,
Area 31 continues to be bursting with activities. Next Wednesday, March 1st, Fundación Créate will have an info session in Area 31 for those of you interested in mentoring children as they launch their first entrepreneurship projects. Also, we'll host final rehearsals of our Master in Architectural Management and Design students. Finally, on Thursday we'll celebrate our weekly Venture Network event. Join s for pitching and beers. Master in Architectural Management and Design: Final Presentation Rehearsal

Area 31's Garden will host the pitch rehearsal of IE's students enrolled in our Master in Architectural Management and Design. Juan Lago, Academic Director of the program, will run the session. This is a private event for MAMD students exclusively.
Would you like to help young entrepreneurs with their projects?

Fundación Créate invites you to participate as mentors, visiting a school and sharing one hour with young entrepreneurs, kids and teens 10 to 16 years old. They need your orientation in the key aspects of their project. Venture Network Weeklies

Interview to Nathan Blecharczyk Co-Founder of AirBNB

Nathan Blecharczyk is the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Airbnb. Nathan plays a leading role in driving key strategic initiatives across the global business. Previously he oversaw the creation of Airbnb’s engineering, data science, and performance marketing teams. Nathan became an entrepreneur in his youth, running a business while he was in high school that sold to clients in more than 20 countries. He earned a degree in Computer Science from Harvard University and held several engineering positions before co-founding Airbnb. As a guest, Nathan has stayed in hundreds of homes using Airbnb and he is also a host in San Francisco, where he lives with his family. RSVP here.

You can send your application before the 28th of February in order to participate in the II Edition of the Emprendedores y Seguridad Vial Price of the Fundación Linea Directa, to boost business projects that contribute to reduce and avoid mortal car accidents on the road.
The winner will receive an economic donation of 20.000 euros with coinvestment, as well as training and mentoring. In a more advanced phase, the business project will undergo a personalized study and the possibility of access to investment rounds.
Change Tomorrow Today! Social Innovation acceleration program
The Social Innovation Tournament promotes the generation of innovative ideas and rewards initiatives that fight against social exclusion. It covers projects in a wide range of fields – from education, health care and job creation to new technologies, new systems and new processes.
Projects compete for two prizes in a General Category and two prizes in a Special Category: Ageing. Winning projects in each category are awarded a 1st and 2nd Prize of EUR 50 000 and EUR 20 000 respectively. Further awards include vouchers entitling a number of projects and their teams to benefit from subsequent coaching/mentoring services. Read more.
Engineering Medicine - EHealth Hackathon

English speakers are very welcome and will be able to participate but the event is in Spanish.
Engineering Medicine will be an intensive day where you will compete to find the most appropriate solution to problems of the medical field. We will have specialist mentors from various universities and hospitals who will be with us throughout the day to advise and help you. The competition is done by teams but the registration is individual. The teams will be formed there according to the chosen theme. RSVP here

How it all began: the MBA experience
I enrolled in my IMBA with the clear aim of starting something impactful with some like-minded peers; at the end I specifically decided to choose IE for its focus on entrepreneurship. I was lucky enough to find my two great co-founders within my very same IMBA section. We started the program together in April 2015; at that point we were just three friends – an Italian, a Mexican and an Israeli – who got along naturally together. We decided to team up together as we all joined the first “edition” of the Start-up Lab. Looking back that was one of the wisest decisions we could have taken. Read more.
